I am reading that most recipes require deydraters. Do I really need to purchase one. Will standard oven do. I can set it to 40 degrees F. But dehydrating for 12 to 20 hours seems like quite long time especially for your energy bill. Can I purchase dehydrated crackers or fruit at a local whole foods store? I think staying raw is easier if you have a variety of foods available to eat or prepare. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

Well, I think it depends on what recipe books you're looking at.

When I first started looking for raw recipes on the computer I definitely saw the same things you did. A majority of the stuff was dehydrated.

But then I purchased some highly recommended raw food books where none of the recipes required a dehydrator.

I recommend the book Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People. All you need is a blender and a food processor.

Just got that myself. It's quite good, especially the Tropical Fruit Tort which I've made twice so far.
