I just received my Book-Living on Live Food today :D and I am just curious what peoples favorites are.
I would guess from the most common categories like: Appetizers and Side dishes, Soups, entrees, salads, desserts, drinks, or just whatever your favorites are.
Anxious to see the feedback and to get started making all of the goodies I have been reading about on the site.
I wanted to make Lasagna but don't know if I need to soak the nuts and my dehydrator is one of the small round ones, don't know if it'll fit.
Thanks in advance!

Hey Adrian from South Jersey!
My favorite is a cross between her pizza and the Angel hair pasta for an entree. Her marinara is THE BEST I have ever eaten! Even my hard-core meat and potato son-in-law loved it. I love the creamy avocado dressing too. I've made the nectarine cookies and they were very good!
There just aren't enough hours in the day to create and eat all this wonderful food!
Pretty much w/Alissa's recipes if it says to soak, then soak. If it doesn't, don't soak.
I'm curious too what other folks like...
Oh - you will enjoy her book. I highlighted a lot of information to refer back to it easily. I stayed up all night reading it when I got it. I was so excited!!!

Well I am a dessert kind of gal! So my favorites are the Date Nut Torte with raspberries, Black Forrest Cake (just the middle pudding type layer), Fudge Balls, and the Nacho Cheese Sauce (used as a pate).
But all the recipes I've tried have turned out great, I am just not much of a raw main dish person. A few bites and then I'm done and don't really like them. But dessert, well that is perfect for my dinner each night!
I have lots of favorites
Enchiladas
pesto stuffed mushrooms
collard rolls
pad thai
pizza
calzone
chili
onion dip
spinach dip
lemon pudding
date nut torte
fudge balls
mudslide
and many more
Her recipes are wonderful!!

My husband was not so sure about this whole going 100% Raw thing. I got Alissa's book and made the Angel Hair Pasta with Marinara sauce for him. He was SHOCKED to say the least. He's been 100% raw ever since. He eats that sauce with absolutely everything. Today, he had it with the Pesto Lasagna. Tonight, he ate it with guac and flax crackers. I think he could pretty much just live on that! The Pad Thai is awesome. The stuffed pesto mushrooms are to die for dehydrated or not. ~kelley~ :)

.... are to die for... ~kelley~ :)
I've stopped using that phrase when referring to any raw food. It's to LIVE for!!! ;)

Thanks to all who have posted. Now I have some ideas on what to make first. I have read quite a bit of the book which I received yesterday, and can't wait to get started.
I used a portion of her recipe combined with a few others to create a lasagna that I shared with my mom, nephew and sis. We all loved it. I couldn't believe that it tasted just like lasagna without the meat.
(Vegan for Life- The Lasagna is to LIVE FOR!!)
I also see from the posts that many liked the date nut torte, I will have to look at that recipe and hopefully its not too tooo sweet or datey!!
Thanks again, and keep the posts coming ;)

One of my favorites is Gus's Pesto. I either eat it with her flax crackers or the best is having them in the Stuffed Mushroom recipe (can't remember if that's the name of it, but you just put the pesto in the mushroom and dehydrate for awhile).
I also love the fudge balls and the wheat crackers. OH, and HOW COULD I FORGET??? I really love the mango pie. I eat it often for breakfast or whenever, adding cut up strawberries, kiwi, and/or peaches to the cut up bananas.

Hi Adrian
You write that you hope the date nut torte isn't too sweet. It is a bit sweet but worth trying for three reasons.
The first is that it is an interesting technique that's easy yet yields a result which is more than the sum of the ingredient parts.
Secondly, cut into very small pieces rather than pie sized slices. I put mine in the freezer as I couldn't eat it all over a reasonable amount of time and I preferred the texture when it was defrosted.
Thirdly, did you say somewhere else that you cook for your familly? If so, perhaps it would work as a way of luring others over to "our" way of eating.
Now, the blueberry pie recipe is lovely. Try it in individual portions with a very thin base. It's like magic the way the blueberries gel the liquid part. I like the berry part so much I make the filling without the base and turn it onto a plate and decorate.
Two recipes I've made repeatedly are mock salmon pate - try with dill and kelp powder to make more fishy and Alissa's dressing.

I forgot about the Pecan Pie, it is really wonderful! And the Carrot Cake too, but that Pecan Pie is perfect for the upcoming holidays and reminds me of fall foods.

Hey Adrian,
I jusy got the book as well and I've made the Apple Pie. It was so fast and my entire family(kids and Husband) and myself made it disappear. It makes a lot. The cheeses are fantastic as well. Good luck:)

My favorite so far is the pecan pie. I never liked pecan pie before but hers is great! I made a half recipe and have a candy-bar sized portion when I want something sweet. It is SO good!

Oooh, so many. My current top favorites:
Pesto stuffed mushroom
Butternut squash with golden curry sauce (totally addicted to this)
Collard rolls with any of the nut based entrees (especially sunny pate or mock salmon pate) and lots of shredded/diced raw veggie toppings and avo.
Sushi rolls (also addicting)
Pad thai (Yum yum! I add cilantro and lime wedges. Even SAD people at worked adored this when I shared)
Indian spinach dip (I add a small amt. of ground nuts for creaminess--sure missing my spinach)
I don't make too many of the desserts as I'm usually satisfied with a variety of fruit.

I love this thread because it motivates me to make more recipes I haven't tried and makes me even want to re-try (try, try again!) the ones I've made and didn't particularly like.
I wonder what I did wrong on the marinara sauce because I didn't like it at all. I think the flavor of the sun-dried tomatoes threw me off. Is there a particular kind to find at the store?

Alyssa's Dressing, Pesto Stuffed Mushrooms, Marinara Sauce, Fudge Balls, Apple Pie, Walnut Brownies, Onion Dip, ... I could go on & on!

Thanks to everyone again for all of the ideas.
I have made a few things since I received the book and love them all. Tonight I made the pesto mushrooms with the mushrooms I had left from the lasagna that I made for Sunday. Too bad I only had maybe 7 of them, but they were so good, nice and warm for a chilly night like tonight. (Perfect)
I made the applesauce for my son tonight, and I made the almond balls which were good, but just a tad bit too sweet for me. I wanted to make the apple pie, but I didn't have enough apples. I also wanted to make a batch of the carrot pecan burgers which will come in the next few days, I just gotta buy some more mushrooms to make them.
Thanks again!!

RP- What do you do, make the food ahead of time, and then freeze it?? If you do, what do you use, freezer bags or containers?? And do you thaw out the food the night before you eat or do you take it out the morning of the day you want to eat it?? Just curious because I often make a batch of food and with me being the only one raw in my home, I eat the same thing for 3-4 days sometimes. If I could freeze some of the food, I could eat more of a variety.
Any insight you have will help amateurs like me. :D
Thanks RP
