Yesterday I celebrated my 90th day raw :)
Over the last week I have noticed my skin fading in it's glow and instead I am experiencing a greyish cast to my skin and it is bumming me out :(
My skin has been wonderful till now with a few pimples tucked in here and there but this grey stuff is weird.
I scrub my face with baking soda and I am trying to get more water in my system.
I have been eating more vege's than fruit trying to rid my body of candida.
I haven't really changed at all what I have been eating and I have enjoyed LOTS of fresh farmers produce this summer.
Anyone have a similar thing happen or hear of anything?
I totally feel fine with little or no change in bowel habits so I am really puzzled.

I notice that when I eat more fruit especially, really juicy ones, my skin has a much better glow, then when I eat more greens.
As for the gray-that's weird...you haven't been taking collodial silver have you?

Nope, No silver. I haven't taken any supplements at all, Nada.
I haven't changed to anything new at all that I am aware of. I have been eating TONS of cucumbers but I cant imagine that that would do it.
Really the only thing I can think of is that I have a lot of old stuff coming out.
I am going to continue dry brushing and scrubbing with baking soda and up my water intake.

I don't know, but the only time I've had "grayish" skin was when I would go to the tanning bed years ago. I would get tan, but it would be this ugly grey looking color. It was awful, I can't believe I ever did that.
It will probably clear up if you stay raw. It's probably another round of detox. Stuff can sometimes take awhile to get out. I remember one time when I went 68 days 100% raw and had the best glowing skin ever. Then I went straight into a 7 day water fast and my skin looked horrible!!! Apparently I was still very, very toxic. Now I'm convinced it takes a long time and lots of fasting to get everything out.

Well that is what I am thinking too that something inside just needs to come out.
I have been contemplating my first short liquid fast (with fresh juice and water) I think I can try it for a few days and see how I handle it.
This might be a good time also because, I have felt great and get pleanty of sleep and my work load is light.

Maybe your skin isn't liking the baking soda? Too harsh perhaps?

I have a friend who use to consume a lot of carrot juice and she actual noticed her ski turning orange
up the carrot intake plus the grey skin should equal SIENNA
Which could be quite attractive in a BAHAMA MAMA kinda way
On a serious note, are you getting enough sunshine???
Why are you dry rubbing your body?
Up the natural oil intake from olives and avacados and try some deep tissue massage too.

lifeAgift - dry skin brushing is VERY beneficial - if done correctly. Our skin first of all is our biggest "organ". Dry skin brushing gets rid of dead skin and also stimulates the lymphatic system. This is a procedure that has been done for centuries. You must also use a proper brush. A natural bristle brush. You could do damage if not done right. Brushing skin while wet stretches the skin - so that is frowned upon. It "wakes" your skin up. I love it!!! I brush before I shower...

Thanks for the info. I hadn't a clue. Well actually I assumed it was lymphatic related becuase I new that individuals with lymphedema do it for therapy if their skin wasn't too fragile. But I really didn't know why it was so popular in the RAW circle.
So I finally asked. Now I know :D
 Putting on may shades hoping over to Wild Oats to get a brush and throwing out the loafa ;)

Not to get off the topic here, but my mom has lymphedema in her leg and she would always use cocoa butter for that. Is dry better?

How often should or can you skinbrush a day?
Just wondered if you have ever smoked, worked /lived in a smoke filled environment or suffered from asthma or similar disease.
A grey energy or skin tone sometimes appears when ex smokers detox.
It can also be associated with those who may have suffered with lung complaints in the past.
In your case, it may be none of these things, but i do recognise the grey skin tone you are enquiring about.
hope it passes quickly for you!
Congratulations on reaching 90 days raw!
Blessings

Ideally? Every day - once a day. You can brush more often if you wish. You want to always brush toward the heart. In problem areas, such as cellulite spots, you can brush in a circular motion, ending with straight brushes toward the heart.
Your skin will glow! Even more!!! ;)
I really feel that this is a detoxing your body is going through. I believe it will pass. Just keep on keeping on...

I have never smoked :) Not ever put anything lit to my lips ever and I am very happy about that!!
I have been working in a smoke free environment for 20 years.
I LOVE dry brushing and am tickled that it took off on this thread because I highly recommend it :)
I have no doubt that the baking soda is not the issue. I have Dark olive skin and it is not sensitive whatsoever and I have used this even before going raw.
I also understand about the tanning and the grey cast to the skin (I tan very very easily) I have not had enough sunshine lately because it has been raining for 2 weeks!! The last 2 days I have been out in the sun but that has not changed anything but every one's attitude!! he he Man what a bunch of grumpy people!
The more I read and learn, I am thinking that I need to increase my fluid, water intake and do a short liquid fast and see if I can actively increase my elimination.
I want that Raw Glow back but perhaps my body is just being stubborn!
Thanks for all your imput!! :D

bump,
some guy who might dad knows said he was eating organic, don't know if he was eating raw, but I'll assume he was/is and the guy's skin started turning grey, and I remember this thread.
So what's the cause of this?
