Thinking right now, of maybe having a week, where i'm like 50% raw, OR, a day/maybe weekend when I'm not raw and vegan.

And Veggie pizza taste good.

Anyone knows if theres MSG in papa john's pizza?

Anybody does this and still have a great healthy condition?

I would consider you high raw if you only do it most of the time.
I wouldn't use "vegan" at all. You can't be a part-time vegan.
When I'm attempting to be/stay raw, I don't let myself eat cooked because when I do, it's a downward spiral from there. Whenever I do give in, it's usually hard to get back to being raw.

Not for me...

And when it comes to being vegan, i'm only concerned with how animal stuff gets/doesn't get inside my body.

New label, Vegan-Eater.

Responses please.

From my personal experience from a week ago, having anything non-raw would spin me down. It started with a veggie burger at Chili's when I was out with friends, then it ended up in a full blown fast-food meltdown three times in one day. I was not feeling great.

My skin broke out again, I gained 5 pounds and I was constipated like you wouldn't believe. Sorry for the graphicness but it's true. And that's only from one week of non-raw. I'm now on day 6 of my reentry into 100% raw and I'm detoxing hard core but I feel a zillion times better in my mind.

I wouldn't do it again, however I'm not you and you are perfectly capable of making your own decisions. I'm just telling you my own experiences. Life is about choices and living and experiences, and this is one for you. :)

All the best.

I dont think i've ever had such symtoms like you guys said. Maybe for a few hours and thats it. Though, i've been raw since like December 2005 maybe earlier. And from my perspective, those stories sound very exaggerating, even the ones that i've read from before, guess my body deals with all the crap easier...

Though I do agree with the constipation.....

Ditto Coriander74...

I've gone off RAW enough to know (I'm a slow learner) that each and every time I do I end up with the following:
- Instantly become thirsty and that thirst remains throughout the night.
- The excess salt and other spices keep me up at night and makes my brain spin random thoughts at an excited pace.
- I gain water weight quickly to fight off the salt, cooked food, etc
- I feel like I'm hungover (I know this because I used to drink). Which basically I am because the poor digestion kicks off alcohol into the bloodstream -- (caused mainly from grains fermenting).
- Constipation
- Feel tired and depressed
- Cravings intensity increases dramatically

Good luck if you want to try what you suggest in this post. However, from my experience it just doesn't work. I've certainly wanted to eat certain foods but in the past every time I did succomb, those foods would kick my (***)

Just sharing my experiences. And, others have reported similar experiences.

Cheers,
Fiddler

Goldsplinter - Then what is the point of this thread? You're asking for opinions, then kind of bashing every one of them. People answer your question and give their experience, and you talk about how they're exaggerating. What do you want?

ETA: And you're not vegan. AT BEST, you're a PART TIME vegetarian (which is a joke, because shouldn't every person be a "part time vegetarian?"); maybe strict vegetarian if you aren't getting any animal products when you do eat cooked (i.e. cheese on that pizza) If you're intent on using a label, at least use one thats remotely correct. There's enough miseducation the real vegetarians/vegans have to deal with out there. If you don't give a $h!t about how animals are treated, if your home products are tested on animals, if there are animal ingredients in your shampoo, if there's whey and tallow in those biscuits, if you "sometimes" eat cheese, or meat, or whatever. You aren't vegan.

I'm not vegan, darn... poor vegans out there, giving em a bad rep.......

Still welcoming responses.

Edit: Maybe you guys should start a new label... And I'm serious about that one.

Lol. Good to know you're SO respectful of the same people whose label you are so desperately trying to use for yourself.

Anyway. I'm out of this thread. Hope you find whatever support you're looking for in it.

Ohhhhhh I don't exaggerate when it comes to my body and my health. Everyone's body deals with things differently. My particular body has been through such a healing process with going 100% raw. My chronic pain is gone, I'm off 90% of my medications, and my mental clarity is back. During the week that I slipped recently, I noticed a return in my emotional depression, aches and pains, headaches for days... most of the stuff that fiddler commented on.

Are you 100% raw now and just considering going 50%? or off? Have you been consistently 100% or "high raw" or have you been off and on since 2005?

I know that I can not eat any cooked food, trust me, I've tried it, and then it hooks me in and I eat cooked for months, one time for 4 years, as I struggled to go back to raw.

I've lost a lot of weight on raw, and all my symptoms, I feel marvelous, but I know just one bite of cooked food, just one bite and I'm back on the cravings train, and it won't let me go for about 3 days, and I don't want those cravings, and having to white knuckle it through, I'm sure there may be some people who can do it, but why?

I mean we know cooked food is not good for us, we know it causes all diseases, so why would anyone in their right mind want to eat it?

It doesn't make sense to me, if you are eating 100% raw now, why would you want to change?

Veggie pizza doesn't taste good, unless you are addicted to the wheat and dairy.

Raw pizza is so much better for you, and you can eat all you want, and not feel like you will starve if you don't get more.

but that is just me.

Nor would I. Once I embrassed Raw I have no desire to eat otherwise.

The few time I chose to eat cooked food I did not feel good.

Pizza....cheese= clogging up the system...wheat, well ditto..

But then again I guess I should not be in this thread because even when I did eat Cooked (not vegan diet) I would NOT eat piza ...cheese UGH...dairy...NEVER !

My question for you is why? Just because it tastes good? Doesn't mean it's good for the body. It's your choice, but....why go from 100% back down? Sorry, doesn't make sense to me.

Nope and if you are as you say, 50% raw, I wouldn't consider that to be raw at all! I ate more raw food than that before I began what I'd consider a "high raw" diet.

As for the pizza this is something I could and do easily live without. I've never cared for the stuff. I can remember going to Pizza Hut in high school with my friends. They had a salad bar there and I'd always order just that. My friends would keep pushing and pushing me to eat the pizza because they couldn't understand why I wouldn't eat it. I would try but I'd rarely manage more than a bite of two because I disliked it that much. Then one day it dawned on me that it wasn't the pizza so much that I disliked but all the greasy toppings most people put on it.

I then tried veggie pizzas because I do like vegetables, but I didn't like them on the pizza. So I began trying cheese pizzas. I liked the cheese okay. I liked the sauce. Can't say that I liked the crust all that much. But I didn't like the cheese and sauce enough to where I'd want to eat it very often.

And then I learned of my dairy allergy. So no more pizza for me! I have on occasion gotten the "vegetarian" thin crust pizza from Trader Joe's. I can't see why it is labeled "vegetarian" and not "vegan" based on the listed ingredients. It's just some sort of really thin bread for a crust with a tomato and vegetable sauce on it. It's okay. But I wouldn't call it pizza because it doesn't really taste like pizza to me.

I've seen raw pizza recipes, but I haven't tried them because as I said, pizza was never a favorite food of mine and I got VERY burned out on the stuff when I lived in NYC. Seemed every restaurant there delivered. About 75% of them were pizza/Italian. Most of the rest were Chinese with a few other ethnicities in scattered in there.

My kid was invited to the birthday parties of almost every kid in her class and in our neighborhood. And they all served pizza. I remember going to one such party where one kid wailed to his mom, "Pizza again?"

I guess people get it because it's cheap or something. And I guess people assume that most people like it. But personally I just don't get the appeal of it.

Make raw pizza. I was NEVER a pizza person, but I tried raw and it was great!

Why is it so important to have a label? I don't care if I'm called raw or vegan or vegetarian, or high whatever. The labels can be so constricting. We are all striving for better health through raw foods and some are at a different point in the journey than others. Personally, I had a cooked pizza pig out about a month and a half ago and I was regretting it afterwards. I got a lot of support and help from all the wonderful people here and I got over it. I felt crappy, but I jumped back on the horse and I'm fine. But now that it's out of my system.... I'm kinda glad I had it. Sshhh. I really like cooked pizza. I love raw pizza too. If I had some that night, I wouldn't have eaten the cooked.

Good luck.

Instead of wondering if the pizza has MSG, try to concentrate your energies into wondering how much more healthier the raw pizza version would be!

I can almost guarantee once you taste the raw pizza, you will wonder why did I even waste my time thinking about the cooked version.

The more raw food you eat, the healthier you are or will become. It's as simple as that!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Mostly everyone here understands how it feels to be a newbie.

Not in their pizza, but there is in their ranch and blue cheese dressings.

You can still order your cooked pizza without cheese and with tons of veggies.

I consider myself high raw and have done this a few times within the last 6 months, but I don't pig out on it. A slice or two and that is it for me, along with some greens. My asthma and allergies are still in check after this, so this works for me at the moment.

I love the raw pizza, but my daughter likes going to a certain pizza restaurant because of the pipe organ - ah I wish they had raw pizza there. I really do prefer raw pizza....

I have been eating raw for about 2 months now and I don't label myself because once in a while I will try something just because I wonder if it will taste the same.

I have tried -

Beef Jerky - Oberto It was my favorite - now it is gross
A Tomato sandwich with extra mayo on Sourdough roll Mmmmm - the bread and the mayo gave me indegestion and All day I burped all night and it tasted like I ate a dozen boiled eggs EWWW
Garlic bread on Texas toast - another fave - I hated it

Its almost sad when you find out a favorite food tastes like crap :( lol

But I noticed that I can eat other cooked things if they are basic and not mixed with stuff - Popcorn, but it does make me a little thirsty (starchy)

Roasted nuts - I LOVE these but I try to eat raw, I don't soak - it makes my stomach feel gross.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

But anyway, if you do eat cooked food after being raw - just be careful what you eat - your body might throw it back at you lol
