Hi there,
I have just recently discovered this wonderful way of eating and was very determined to give it a try for 30 days. I have been told by a couple of nutritionists that starting a raw diet may not be a good idea since I am nursing a 3 month old baby. It's not the diet they're concerned about, it's the detox my body will go through in the beginning. The concern is that the toxins will be given to my baby through the breast milk. Does anyone know or have any advice on this?
Thanks.

Some toxins will be present in your breast milk, but I believe that most will pass through urine, stools, sweat, etc. In any case, if you transition slowly, your detox should be slow as well and shouldn't harm your baby.

I did a pretty serious, all of a sudden detox while breastfeeding (she was 8 months and it was still her main source of food) i saw no ill-effects occur to her and the folks where I was at for 3 weeks (Hippocrates Health Institute) were not concerned about it. I was getting tons of nutrients through green juices and raw foods so that helped I'm sure.
I also agree with the previous poster - slow is fine too.
Good luck!
