Why can't we find Alissa's book more readily available in USA other than ordering online? (thinking book stores, libraries, etc.)

I don't have the answer but I think it should be available at ALL the bookstores. I mean, the DVD & the book are SO awesome. It is very surprising that she isn't in ALL the stores. I bet after she goes on the Tyra Banks show she'll sure be all over the place. :D

Good question. If you ask for it they might order them. Then others in your area would benifit also.

Thanks Doe.

Anyone else know why Alissa's book is not readily available locally and not just online? Still curious.

Does it have ISBN?

Thanks.

Carol,

I do think it has an ISBN number. I can't check it at the moment, am travelling and don't have it with me.

I don't have a specific answer for this book, but it has to do with the authror's agent, marketing, etc. Sometimes people choose to self market their books so they can save money on agent's fees and such. In this case, they might find a few stores local to them who are willing to sell the book. Or they might sell it online. This is often the case with new authors, especially when they can't find a major publisher to publish and market the book for them, or at least not within their time frame. Publishers only accept submissions at certain times of the year and even in the best case scenario it can take two or three years before the book is accepted and then put on the shelves.

And then once the book IS on the shelves, it had better sell quickly from the start of the bookstores don't want it there. Or the major chain stores anyway. There are some book stores where I live that are small and prefer to carry more unusual books. It can be very difficult for a beginning author to get their books mainstreamed. But if they do have one best seller, then it's much easier to get the second book out there and bookstores are more willing to give that book a chance.

In some cases, the author prefers to add something personal to each person who buys it. This is something they can't do, aside from book signings, unless they do sell on the Internet.

I didn't find Alissa's book in any of the major bookstores here, but I didn't ask specifically for it. Many of the stores are good to special order it. I didn't look online aside from this site where I did purchase it. I do usually order my books online from major bookstores, but some of them have let me down lately, promising me the book but then months go buy and no book. Then eventually they tell me they can't get the book. Or they tell me it's in stock but I don't get it for many weeks.
