A friend of mine told me he was going to the farmers' market to get me some groceries. He mentioned that they have okra and I asked him to get a pod or two, just to try out. He came back with 370 grams of the stuff! What do I do with it?

:D It was so good i ate it before i made it home from church, yes raw. I told her about eating it raw and she and the secretary turned their noses up at the suggestion. How sad people think our wonderful veggies have to be dipped in flour and fried in grease to be good. :( :(
Also what i have done and my husband loves it is that i have sprinled a half a cup of brewers yeast in a bag w/ a sprinkle or two of cayanne pepper and some sea salt and put the okra in a shake it up for about 2 min. and spread it on the sheets of my dehdrater and left it in for about a 1 1/2 hours and it is so good, if you want it more crispy leave it in longer.
It is so good, now i'm getting hungry for it but i ate all the okra :( :( :( :( .

I used to love fried okra :( But only if it was crispy enough to NOT be slimy. I like the idea of eating it seasoned like Bethanie suggested! Now I have to buy some at the grocery store. I guess okra was one of those things I thought could not be eaten raw! Thanks.

Well I have had it 2 ways:

1. just eating it as is, yummmmmmmmmmm

2. Cut as if you were going to fry it. Then let it soak in some nut milk, salt, and pepper. Then dip in some olive oil. Then bread them in some raw wheat germ or powder flax seeds. then dehydrate. They turned out really yummy!

No not that I remember. The mil softens them up and then once you dehydrate them they stiffin them making the kinda crunchy. I make onion rings about the same way and they are really good.

trying this now - except i'm using nutritional yeast (nooch) and chili powder, b/c i didn't have cayenne.
