[FONT=Garamond]I am into the raw experiment seven months now and am finding that I am continually learning not just what to eat but HOW.
I have noticed that there are certain meals I walk away from feeling really good and energized. I do not feel this way if I eat too much or if I mix too many foods.
Usually when I have a meal that works for me I walk away feeling enlivened, energized and yes, a wee bit hungry. If I go with the movement to eat more to get "filled" up in the old way I was used to, I loose the feeling of well being.
What I have found works for me is to always stay on the edge of "a little hungry" in other words to not loose touch with that sensation, that does not mean never being satisfied by a meal but that by the time a couple of hours rolls around I feel hungry again. Then I have a snack- an apple, a raw cracker. So I am finding what works for me is to eat something at least every three hours of so (except in the evening hours).
I am also finding that If I have a fairly simple salad with just the right mix of sour and sweet for dressing I can be left feeling really well. Something about lemon juice or a bit of vinager is enegizing.
There is something about eating this way that also helps my elimination which actually feels really pleasurable if I eat this way.
There is always the tendency to go for that "full" sensation which used to result from a big bowl of white rice or some such thing.
In some sense it is emotionally harder to eat the way I am not because I don't get those periods where I am dulled by heavy foods. Instead I have to feel a whole lot more.
That's all for now I just thought it was a good discussion because there are so many threads about the "what" of raw food as opposed to the how.
