ok so my mind was wondering about softening veggies. i read on this board that you can use an oven for dehydrating and soaking softens potatoes up some. so i was wondering if i could soak in the oven on low flame like 100 degrees or so to soften up. i was raised on soul food and really love some things and i'm trying to figure out how to raw up my favorite soul recipes.
can anyone help?

i suppose you could try to soften them that way, just make sure you have a thermometer in the oven so you know that you are keeping it at athe right temp and I would also prop something in the top of the door just to allow the air to flow. I hope this helps, let us know if it works. Of course if you have a dehydrater you could soften that way too. good Luck.

ok thanks..im moving soon so it will be a few weeks before i start really experimenting. i'm trying to get creative here and my son really loves the kitchen so i'm trying to figure out how to turn him into a raw chef and turn him on to raw in a fun way. this should be interesting for him.

Oh wow how much fun is that I admire you for wanting to incorporate raw into your sons life that's fantastic and great way to do like you said is involve him in the uncooking. I only wished I had faound raw when my daughter was much much younger. Striggling with a 13 yr old here, hopefully when she is a bit older she will take all this all on board and figure out this is the best way to eat. Good luck with the move :D .
