Shitake Mushrooms

Does anyone know if it is totally safe/healthy to eat shitake mushrooms RAW?

I know for some mushrooms you're not supposed to eat them raw only cooked, so I'm wondering if shitakes are ok RAW.

The sushi recipe in the book Raw Food Real World uses raw marinated shitakes. As they serve them at their restaurant I assume that they are safe to eat raw. They are also extremely yummy!

As far as I know they are. I eat them and have seen them in several recipes. Boy am I in trouble of their not :D

I like the idea of buying shitakes as they're grown on oak logs, as opposed to commercial mushrooms that are grown on manure from conventional meat operations.
