I have family coming in from out of town and they all want to BBQ. This fine with me because there will be plenty of others that can actually cook the food so I don't have to. My problem is that I need something easy and fast for about 10-15 people. I thought about taking a vegestable tray with some raw dip. Any suggestions? I will have a little bit of time tomorrow but i can't get involved with a major food project so I need it kind of simple. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Lorna

Look for the KFC coleslaw recipe under this topic & double it. It's a very good recipe, perfect for the BBQ.

I agree the KFC coleslaw recipe is your best bet for a BBQ!

Are you wanting something raw, or does it concern the others moreso than you? A large salad would work, with lots of good stuff in it. I do a baby spinach salad (you can get them pre-washed and bagged, ready to go) with tangerine slices (or canned mandarines if time is more important) and toasted or slivered almonds---goes over well with a poppy seed dressing. Fruit salad is always a hit. If cooked is something you want to bring, how about boiling some corn on the cob?

Hi,

It sounds like you want something RAW, yummy, without a lot of prep time.

The Pesto stuffed mushrooms is really great, one recipe makes about 30 mushrooms, and that is enough for 2 for each person. I dehydrate them for only one hour, then eat them.

If you want even less work, then any kind of veggie salad, although you can easily take up to 2 hours, chopping, and washing and tearing salad.

A fruit salad is the same, takes forever to wash and chop and all that.

What I usually do for a big gathering, is I buy a medium sized watermelon, I buy a bunch of different kinds of seedless grapes, and a couple of bananas, and go to the Bar-b-que with a big knif in my hand, and cut open the watermelon while there, scoop out some of the center, and toss the grapes in, if there are kids there, they love to tear the grapes off the vine, and help, then I slice the bananas, and there you have a nice looking semi/luxurious fruit salad, that kids love to help with, and everyone will eat.

If you want even less fussing, just take the watermelon, or any kind of melon, and cut it in half there. Voila' instant RAW food for fun, family, and festivities.

Thank-you for your wonderful ideas. Iwanted something to share of course but also something so good I wouldn't be tempted to cheat. I thought about coleslaw. Maybe I will try to KFC recipe. ( I used to work at KFC when I was in high school 1975) I have been told by everyone to try the pesto mushrooms! I think I will!
