I don't understand. I'm 4 months on raw food and it's great ,my skin, eyes, hair, energy... almost everything is Ok. almost, but my belly looks soo big and I'm not fat at all (108 lbs, 5'5) I only gain 2 lbs but I think all the weight go to my belly :( . I don't think it's normal. Recomendation/sugestions are welcome.

trying messing around with food combos

could just be bloating

make sure youre staying hydrated too. pee should be clear. if it isnt, you might be holdin onto extra water weight.

Most women will always have a curvature to their tummies. It's to protect your children while you are pregnant and provides a little extra cushion for the baby from the outside world. It's my trouble spot too, but there is no way to "spot reduce" fat. If you want to lose it, you will have to have very low bodyfat through exercise in addition to your diet.

Don't want to scare you, but one of my friends was naturally thin, but started getting a belly. This belly wasn't fat, and since she was unable to get pregnant - she knew she wasn't pregnant. No matter how much she exercised and changed her diet, her belly wouldn't get smaller.

It ended up being a *huge* 10 pount tumor that they surgically removed.

I thought I would just mention this even though there is probably only a 1 in 100,000 chance that you are having the same issue that she had.

thank you for your replies. my health is ok (don't worry ;) ), so I think maybe it's a bloating issue as eatyourbroccoli said. I still couldn't leave salty foods :p . do you think is possible use salt and be succesful with raw food diet?

Could be a food allergy. I had this same problem until I learned of my allergies to dairy, eggs and almonds. Since I was eating these things almost daily, my body never had a chance to detox from them. But after two weeks of not eating these things, my belly lost the bloat.

What do you eat in a typical day?

Is your belly hard and extended, or is there actually more fat to pinch on it than before? If your belly is just hard, it's probably bloating... in which case you might want to work on food combining, chewing better, etc. to help your digestion.

Jujube,
thank you. I always eat lots of fruits and green smoothies, for lunch I take green salads always with olives or avocado. mmm... maybe I need chew better, since I start on raw I become a hungry person, I literally swallow my food  .

Juliebove,
Wow, so interesting. I have some digestive problems before eating nuts. I'll try leave them up now.

Thank you guys, I’ll tell you how it comes :)

yea

make sure its pure sea salt..and try cutting back on it. maybe use 1/2 of what youre using now and see if that helps at all?

also..up your water intake to balance it out

I was going to throw out salt and spices to you. Also any grains you might be eating.

These cause digestive disturbances and the salt/spices cause your body to retain water because it is an irritant/toxin to the system. The water rushes to the spot to dilute the toxin.

Isn't the body amazing? Can you imagine if we didn't have water weight and mucus we'd probably be very sick all of the time! Our bodies really were made to protect us but because we eat SO much bad food for most of our lives (before raw) our systems do get compromised and we end up with other problems.

So - you may want to try a day or two without any salt or spices and see if it makes a difference.

Buy a 1L Nalgene bottle and fill it up twice - drink that first L before noon, and work on the other for the rest of the day. If you drink 16oz (2 glasses) upon awakening, and another two after breakfast, it helps

You will be amazed at how your body feels!! When you do this for a while and then have a day where you drink, say, 5 glasses of water (1.25L), you feel terrible!!! And you think: Did I feel this way all the time?!!!!

As for the bloating, yes, drink lots of water; it flushes everything. On a raw food diet you get a lot of fibre. A lot of food in general. Look at your belly and love it. There's nothing wrong with a bigger than anorexic model belly!! Your belly was meant to curve :) It's attractive, it's beautiful, it's natural.

If you're not happy, though, jogging is a great way to tone the belly (better than sit-ups). Have you ever seen a jogger without a six-pack???

I have cut down the amount of nuts I need. I notice that my stomach is not as distended or bloated. I am a thin person, but my stomach has been the last to go and I'm 9 months raw. I didn't even really eat that much nuts, but just cutting them down a tiny bit and adding more greens and sprouts, I'm getting more of the cut look I want in my tummy :) I also exerise a ton, so I was frustrated that it is taking a bit longer, but I chalk it up to outsmarting nature...Nature wants me to have a little extra fat for bearing children LOL, but I'm not hearin' it. This is the only time I am goin' against Mother Nature...She just won't win with this one :)
