View Full Version : Is this a craving?

I had this feeling today that whatever I ate, I was missing something. I ate olives (but didn't want the water they're packed in, so I put the jar back in the fridge), lulo, peaches, orange juice (frozen and apparently not pasteurized), and avocados, and wasn't satisfied. I tried thinking of foods (including cooked), but I couldn't think of anything that was what I needed. I felt low in energy and took a nap in the afternoon. In the evening I stuck a finger in my armpit and noticed an odor, the one I took to be my own, which lately hasn't been there. So I figured I'm detoxing. Is this feeling of not being satisfied no matter what I eat a craving?

Quoth the craven, "I want more!" ;)

To me a craving is when I want a specific food and am not satisfied until I get it. That rarely happens. I have had days on occasion where I feel like I want or need something but am not sure what it is. I feel almost like I'm in a really bad mood for no reason and I do best just to stay away from people. On those days, I know there is no food I'm going to want, so I just eat whatever is there and usually very little of it. I just try to be a hermit until it passes. Not sure what causes it and *knock wood* it hasn't happened for a very long time.

Could you have just been thirsty? Sometimes I feel like no matter what I eat, I can't get satisfied, but it's usually solved with some water.

Yes, I guess unless you've got Thumbelina hiding out in there, it's got to be your own!

I'd assume it is detox, maybe the rest did you good.

yup, I concur with pinkglttr; I get that feeling of "nothing will satisfy" every once in a while...could be a sign of detox; I usually drink some water and find I'm very thirsty. Then it goes away.

Sharon...Thumbelina! Ha! You crack me up.

A craving for me is the huge desire for a certain food. If I can't get it into me I start getting REALLY anxious and sometimes go into an anxiety attack...I don't crave cooked foods luckily! I feel as if something bad will happen if I don't get that certain food, namely tomatoes and carrots. I'm not going to have carrots today and see waht happens. A craving for me is the way my body says i'm reacting to it in a negative way.

Personally I find when I'm searching for THE food I want... but am not sure what it is... it's almost entirely a non food thing I need (ie connection with people, sunshine, exercise, sleep). It's rarely about food and often not satisfied when I do eat.

That's me anyway!

Victoria Boutenko addressed this very thing at a talk I attended at the Raw Spirit Retreat ... feeling like you want to eat something, not being satisfied with anything available.

She said it is solved by consuming a green smoothie daily ...the smoothie supplies nutrients we are needing, and your body is able to assimilate them quickly and easily.

Her book "green for life" is a good read and has some basic smoothie recipes in it as well.
