YEAH!! I only made 1/4 of the recipe and they wolfed it down before I could get a look in!!

Also made the date & nut torte which, it goes without saying, they also love!

Thanks Alissa!

Have not tried either of those recipes yet but will try them after my juice fast is over. Kids are sometimes hard to please when it comes to food so with those kind of rave reviews I know the recipes are number 1. Thanks for the recipe review.

Hi,

Yes, kids have different taste buds than adults. Also, it depends on whether they have been raw all their lives, or are transitioning to raw.

My 5 Granddaughters, love all of my raw food, as long as there is no carob in them, they hate carob. I love it, but they dont' care for it, so I always make things with vanilla, for nutmilk shakes and alot of fruit.

They especially love the fresh fruits, and the fruit lethers. I also make them raw crachers and raw cheeses, and veggie spreads. That they love.

However, they were raised on McDonalds, and love that type of stuff, so when Grandma comes to visit we eat all kinds of fun yucky things.

I have named the oranges with the big bulb on the stem, Monkey butts, and my raw fruit leather, scabs, so they break them into little pieces, stick them on their faces, then peel them off and eat them, they really love this.

I make worms, and guts, which is marinara sauce over zucchini pasta, I make poop, which is any kind of date nutty deset but I make it in globs, instead of pretty.

I make dirt, which is anything made with raw cocoa and nuts.

I make slime, which is kiwi shakes. I just name it some disgusting thing, and they love it.

They are 5,7, 11, 13, and 15, so there are lots of fun ages to enjoy.

If you let the kids make fun stuff, they will eat it.

Especially the blender, and the food processor, they don't like to wait for things to dehydrate, but they will, if necessary.

"Enjoy your kids while they are young, for someday they will be teenagers, and you will finally understand your own parents."

LOL! I had to really chuckle out loud on this! That is so cute...yeah, kids do sometimes take to the most disgusting things! I remember when those Creepy Crawlers were out where kids could make little bugs and worms and stuff and it was candy they could eat...then the Gummi Worms and all that...yeah! That's a good idea for little kids. I really like the peeling the fruit leather/scabs off of their faces thing! That's too funny!

But congrats, Caramba on your kids loving the hummus! It IS very rewarding to see kids ENJOYING eating healthy things.

My oldest son (13) is the pickiest thing in the house. I worried about him not getting enough (raw) greens in his diet as he'll eat them cooked or steamed, but not raw and he hates salad for some reason. But do you know for the last several days this boy has been JUICING on his own...making GREEN juice...kale, lettuce, apples, lemon seems to be his favorite combo and he makes it by the large mason jar-full. So, there are his raw greens! :D I get overjoyed when I think about the fact that he's doing this and LIKING it!

ROFL!! Good tip!

That's great news about your son, Rawkinlocs. You get so much happier about little achievements for your kids (and other peoples kids!) than for youself, don't you...

Rawpriestess I love what you do with oranges and fruit leather, particularly 'scabs' & poop lol..

That is so cute Rawpriestess! I'll have to give that a try...

Rawkinlocs- that is so great that your son juices on his own- and kale ! I need to try his recipe because when I first tried a kale juice it was awful- but that was at the begining of my journey- I should try it again now. You must be so proud! My kids love helping 'make' the juice... but when it comes down to drinking it- they all run away.... I'm working on it. The carrot juice with apple is the only one so far they will drink... it's a start!

:D

My son (3 y.o) wouldn't drink juices until I started serving them with ice in a "grown up glass" ie. glass one, not a plastic beaker, and with a straw - which he chooses. Now he's fine with them (my daughter has always drunk them) but I always put some apple or pear or pineapple to make it sweeter for them. I don't know how old your kids are and if they'd be impresed by such tricks, but presentation does make a difference with mine at least (ditto nutmilks for both of them...)

That sounds perfect...scabs.. monkey butts...poop. Thanks for the idea.
It helps to think like they do...make everything fun or a game!

WOW..your son is juicing independently, that is beyond awesome :D !!
You obviously are being a great example to him:)
