I have a food processor that chops slices and dices and all that good stuff but it doesn't puree - I need it to mix nuts enough to make it creamy (cheese sauces and stuff)

Would my blender be sufficiant enough for making creamy stuff or patee?

or is there another appliance that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that would work on nuts?

If you're talking nut pate's, your processor should work fine for that with the "S" blade and the moisture/liquid from the other ingredients in the recipe.

One thing you could try is to grind the nuts in the processor as much as you can first, then add the other ingredients.

As for cheese sauces, etc. I like to use the blender for those only because it comes out smoother but you still need to add some kind of liquid (water, lemon juice, etc.) But a food processor can make a creamy sauce if you soak the nuts first and add the liquid...but it might still be a little grainy depending on the nuts used (cashews or mac nuts blend creamier than almonds, for example).

Before I got my Vitamix, I would also sometimes process in the food processor first and then transfer to the blender (had a Hamilton Beach) to complete the process and make it smoother.

This is what I do.

I made a creamy cashew frosting using only my Hamilton Beach blender. It took awhile, but it did it! :) mmmm and it was delicious!

I try to stay away from infomercial products ;) how long have you had it? does it work good or is it a cheaper made product?
