Just finished it. Entertaining (dare I say enlightening) read by a fellow who claims to be enlightened. Came highly recommended from a good friend of mine, glad I finally checked it out. :)

Third the Bible. Lots of great info in there, Proverbs is wonderful for character development.

The best book I have read would have to be "Ramtha" (the white book) by JZ Knight. Say what you will about Ramtha, but this book is the most practical guide I've found to spiritual enlightenment. I also like Ramtha's philosophy about why there is no such thing as right and wrong.

A 70's underground classic THE LAZY MAN'S GUIDE TO ENLIGHTENMENT by Thaddeus Golas. I've spent the next 35 years since reading it, learning what it was talking about.

In 1495 the john wycliff bible had 88 books in it. Then in 1611 edition of tynsdale bible it had 80 books in it. Now the current king james version bible has only 66 books in it. thus I've enjoyed reading these other 24 books and some of the 132 books mentioned in the current 66 books KJV, they are very informative and corralate back to the 66 books, how profound. :rolleyes:

if there will be a resonance or not between a certain book and our inner being.

As a teenager two books opened me for another reality:
Paramahansa Yogananda: Autobiography of a Yogi
and Swami Vivekananda: Raja Yoga.

Another Wayne Dyer fan here, too! I love his books; those, and his CD series on The Power of Intention have truly changed my life.

I also love Louise Hay and in particular her little book Heal Your Body, which sounds a bit like the one that chi-iris-73 mentioned -- the affirmations she gives for any ailment work for me within minutes.

I started reading Florence Scovel Shinn after I'd seen an old thread in which RP recommended it, and I have to say, I haven't been disappointed. An affirmation of hers that I find tremendously helpful and freeing is:

'cast your burden on the Christ within [could be interpreted as your higher self, your guardian angel or whatever fits your personal belief-system] and go free' -- boy, that's so liberating!
