I bought a Kitchen Aid KFP720 7 cup food processor yesterday, over 100 dollars. I tried to process a head of cauliflower last night and I had to dump the container out four times before I had done all of it. I processed and added just bits at a time, hoping that would be forgiving enough, but it just seemed powerless. It's going back today.

I have the 11 cup KA, which is excellent. When I put very large bulky items in there, I will pulse first to get them all the same size, then run it briefly until it gets to the desired size.

Per the advice of Alissa, I got a $25-30 Black and Decker 10-cup! Works great and has been going strong since 2004 :D

Hello Rawkinlocs, Where can you find the B & D 10 cup?? Is it for sale on the site or any special dept store. I can't seem to find any, especially 10 cup for a reasonable price-around 30 bucks!

Adrian,

I think I got mine at Target or it may have been Meyers in Michigan.

Since having moved to WA, I haven't seen the exact model that I have, but I have seen the 8-cup model which actually is the exact one Alissa has. I found them at Walmart and they were on sale for about $23 and I got two of them for my raw classes.

This is the how the model I own and had for two years looks:

Bizrate has comparison prices for this model at: http://www.bizrate.com/foodprocessors/pid11192845/

And this is how the model I bought two of recently looks:

Amazon.com has this model for $23.90

I know I posted this same comment in the Spring so I'll summarize...I had the GE food processor W-M sold for <$39 and used it frequently (~4x/week). It worked great but then I saw the prettier and more prestigious KitchenAid that BBB sells for $150 so I got it (as a bday present). The KA was in fact more pleasing to look at, and a tad bit quieter, BUT it had NOWHERE near the power of my GE. So back to W-M I went to buy another one (because I gave mine away), and it appears that they were being closed out because it was on sale for $29.99. I did end up getting one though and am back to processing powerfully for those instances when I can't use my K-Tec...So all that to say, I was not impressed with the K-A.

Thanks for the info, now I will just have to buy one. The links were very helpful.

Thanks for the info. I am in search of my inexpensive food processor. Wish me luck and hopefully I can find one for $30-$40.

Don't forget yard sales and thrift stores. Way back before I knew better I gave mine away because it was too much trouble to use! Now my $5 yard sale one is great! I read somewhere (Boutenkos?) that they bought the kids used processors so they could have their own and not ruin Mom's. I keep my eyes peeled for another one...just in case! :p
