Yesterday I had my basal methabolism and body mass composition checked by a doctor.
I was just curious, because a lot of people say that eating a strict diet will slow down your methabolism, and I also did 18 days of water fasting last june (and I haven't putted on any weight since then).
People also keep saying that I am going to "eat off" all my muscles because of the low protein diet.
So I had this test, with electrodes for the body mass composition, and then I had to breathe for a while inside of a sort of cocoon for my methabolism.
Anyhow, I have a basal methabolism of 1700 kcal/day wich is quite high (the average person is 1400), and a very good muscle tone (above the average person).
I also have an high amount of living cells, and this cause my methabolism to be quite active. The amount of living cells is very important, the doctor said. It is a sign of good and vibrant health.
I believe that a raw diet will increase the amount of living cells, and this will lead to a good methebolism.
So, all the people that are struggling for weight loss will get better in time, no doubt!!

That is certainly wonderful news!

Question I have is ~ what "strict" diet? If we are talking about raw foods, how strict can it be when one can eat all the fruit, veggies, greens, nuts, and seeds they want whenever they want.

Methinks people eating SAD are "stricter" (at leasted more limiting) than most of us are.

The words we use only goes to show how we are programmed and conditioned to "believe" that we are limited and limiting in food choices.

Good on ya for having these tests done and getting such great results (and sharing them) as I can see how, in the future, peoples' perspectives will change as eating a natural diet evolves.

you are absolutely right, obviously. I was simply "quoting" what SAD (SID in my case) people usually say to me. Many people ignore what a raw diet is, and in Italy it seem even more unknown. I have such an hard time trying to show them how rich a raw diet can be.
I am actually going to visit a friend with some RP brownies :D

Living cells. Hmmm OK. Except for hair and nails, what is not a living cell?
But I believe what you are referring to is what we call in sports, the 'power to weight ratio'. Formerly an engineering term it applies well to living and working structures.
Exercise is the main ingredient for increasing this and though proper diet is an important factor in maintaining structural support, it is secondary to endurance and weight training exercise.
Diet won't get you there on it's own by a long shot.
I would imagine you have a good exercise program, otherwise your results would be less vigorous. What's the missing background info.
Are you a couch potato? :D

I am sorry for not being so clear, this is the limit of having english as a second language :D so probably Living Cells is not really appropriate, probably Cellular Mass make more sense?
I have read that a low value of this parameter is frequent in malnourished people, what do you think?
I do exercise a lot, I run and lift weights. But I was a couch potato before raw ;)

Cellular mass is related to cellular hydration.
Do you mean BMI (body mass index)?
Course that is height related.
You sound 'fit as a fiddle' though.
And no pasta? How do you do that?
:D

I have had similiar tests done, except I used underwater weighing. MY last test a month ago showed I used 2334 k/cal per day and 35.2% fat. That is with little to no exercise.

I was supposed to get test sept 1st to see the changes, but am delayed. I should be able to go this week or early next week. I hope I have the same results as you....

On sept 16th will be 30 days raw for me and was wondering if I should wait to get a 30 day result? Any suggestions?

Where does one get this kind of testing done and how much does it cost?

You mean they're not related? :D

Let's see... guitar for 41 years, Natural Hygiene student for almost 30 years.
OK guitar wins, but nobody's buying my CD's.... so here I am.

Well, one thing you can do is ask them to list what they've eaten over the last week or so, then list all the wonder-filled choices you've made (assuming, of course, you've done so). :D

It's funny how when one leaves out meat, dairy and cooked foods that it's called being "strict". Sheesh! I'll ONLY eat meat, dairy and cooked foods. Now, THAT is strict!

YUmmmmm on the brownies. I brought them to a cook-out ~ along with a salad for myself which I did share ~ and no one knew they were raw unless I (or someone) told them. Those who ate them loved them.

This sounds so fascinating (did I spell that right?) I would also like to re-ask the question....where do I get this done? I would like to have mine tested maybe at the beginning of the new year.

No, I mean BCM -Body Cellular Mass (this is what the paper states)

And no, no pasta, I am the shame of the family :D

Yes, I've been reading more about BCM. Interesting test.

Awesome results ! I am glad to hear over time the Raw diet could help me heal my Metabolism.

I had this teat done prior to going raw, my MET was below 1000 cals a day. They even retest to be sure it was correct ! I was at about 15% bodyfat but did not test for BCI. I was concentrating on my weight training at that time. Now I have been a year raw and do more cardio type activities than weights. It would be interesting to redo soon.

I never heard of BCI , so like cornvalley, I need to research what that is about.
