.... truly a wonder to behold.

Have you ever experienced these scenarios?

You plan on getting up a half-hour early to get in some exercise, writing, or anything else that needs doing and the next morning you hear all the excuses in your head as to why you can't/wont/don't want to do it? i.e. I need that extra hour's sleep; I'll do it during my lunch break; I'll do it when I come home from work; it's too dark when I get up, it's too dark when I get home, I'm too tired (name the time), I REALLY need to eat lunch and rest; yada, yada, yada.

How about this ~ you sit and think that if you join a gym and pay the money, you'll be encouraged to go? So! you actually go for the first two weeks, two months ~ whatever ~ then! the excuses (see the i.e.? Start there) ~ AND ~ while your monkey mind is making excuses, the monthly payments go on and on.

Here's another ~ I work all day and I come home soooo tired I can't even THINK about doing anything to make my life better. All I want to do is come home, have something (non-raw ~ see below) to eat and watch t.v. (junk food for the mind and don't tell me you ONLY watch the "good stuff" since even much of the "good stuff" has commercials with all the "good" stuff you "should" be eating, the "good" stuff you should be buying to enhance your life (and go into more debt) and the drugs you "should" be taking for all your symptoms).

And this one ~ IT"S THE EVENINGS! I CAN'T STAY RAW IN THE EVENINGS! orrrr, I FEEL LIKE I NEED MORE PROTEIN (since when did protein become part of a food group and what does "needing more protein" feel like?); or I HAVE RELATIVES/FRIENDS COMING IN! WHAT WILL THEY THINK? I DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO THINK I'M WEIRD or WE'RE GOING OUT FOR DINNER AND THERE'S NOTHING FOR ME TO EAT or any number of other scenarios the moneky mind (it's VERY creative) can think of to sabatoge what is the best thing we've ever done for ourselves.

I once heard it called ~ Going against wisdom.

See, it's our wisdom which tells us to get up early and get out and move our bodies; it's our wisdom that has us joining the gym; it's our wisdom which turns us on to raw and the benefits there of THEN, sitting on our shoulder is this little monkey chattering in our ear with more excuses for why we can't/shouldn't/wouldn't/couldn't do something or why we can do it later KNOWING in it's lil mind that it wont happen.

How many time have we seen posts here about "struggling". The Monkey Mind just LOVES struggle. I am struggling with raw; I am struggling with getting up and out for morning movement or a class; I am struggling with creating the income I want/need to move from survival to thrival. Check your shoulder as you "struggle". Is there a lil chatterer sitting on your shoulder giggling in glee? You know why? IT"S WINNING and you're not!

So many times we "think" we made the decision. We didn't. It's our past programming. So many time we "think" we are thinking ~ we're not. Thinking is something most of us have no idea how to do because most of what we "think" about can only come from our own experience, our own knowledge, our own programming. Unless some new program is installed we keep doing the same things over and over just like little computers. We never upgrade unless we change what we are doing, the things we watch, the things we do, the people we hang out with.

Having said all that, final note ~ instead of finding excuses for why you can't, create reasons for why you can ~ and write them down. THEN when the lil monkey mind starts chattering in your ear ~ read your reasons for NOT going against wisdom. If you don't that lil monkey will have you by the throat again and again, you'll be posting here about all your struggles.

Life was not meant to be a "struggle". It was meant to be lived in joy and celebration. Remember ~ fun is fundamental ~ and always, play with your food.

I have saved this to look at because it seems to me that the monkey mind has been chattering a lot lately. I love that part about going against wisdom. I think that makes it seem really foolish to do something that is against wisdom. Now I just have to figure out how to shut that monkey up!

After writing the above, I was out in the park doing my Nature Health Exercises and I brought my book to write in. One of the things that came up for me is: "It's difficult to hear the quiet voice of wisdom and knowing when one has a monkey chattering in their ear."

I needed to read this today.
Thank you!

I feel helpless against the pull of the monkey sometimes, and I need to remember that it's easy to do what's wise......it's simply a matter of telling the little *$%( to shut up and let me get on with the business of enjoying my life!

LOL!

He doesn't deserve bananas. He makes me miserable.
I'll give him something nasty.....maybe the gooey, rotten parsnips I just found in the bottom of my fridge. Oops.
