Man oh Man!
I love the young coconut water-- I still have trouble getting to the inside but
the wateris delish and addictive for me... I drink like 3 or 4 per day
I punch a hole in it, stick a straw threw it and sip away! AHhhhh B L I S S !!
But alas, today was different! I followed my normal routine... hammer - screwdriver... hole -- straw... sip.. then BLECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It wa R-O-T-T-E-N! Putrid! Yucky!!!!!!!!! ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!
I do not know why I never thought to check first before I drank it... yuck!
This was the only one out of the say 40 or so that I have had so far....
One bad coconut ......
So, I say- always pour your cocnut water into a glass -- I just felt so raw and cool drinking it from the coconut...

As I recall, when I lived in Miami, they would just poke a hole in the green coconut and put a straw in it and sell it to you that way. I didn't know that there was gelatinous meat inside. I go outside with a hammer and chisel on the cement.

Remember all those threads recently about mangos possibly not being raw because they were immersed in hot water to kill fly (?) eggs? Wonder if that was the larva from one of the eggs? I wonder that things like this probably kills alot of old people whose sight is not what it once was......hmmmm.

I was going to lightly steam a head of califlower for my girls last week...and as I was cutting the florets off the head, I saw a GIANT gross JUICY worm!!! There were eggs all over, too! Plus, I recently bought Oat groats which turned out to be infested with weevils....these are the things you have to deal with when buying organic, huh? I think it's still worth it! But I will keep my eyes peeled from now on!

Bought a head of either boston or hydophonic lettuce in a plastic container. Silly e, craving the greens I started eating it without washing. The taste was like bitter meds. Duh I obviously needed to wash away the topical chemicals.

I just cleaned my kitchen very thoroughly and discovered a lot of things being infested with weevies and some kind of fly. Yuck. I had to throw so much away. 2 lbs of almonds and so much else. First I thought I check every almond for munch marks and eggs, but then even after rinsing them very thoroughly I couldn't bring myself to eat them :(
Great about organic, you get to know all these different life forms :D
