Apparently they start early October, nevermind. :) Guess I never noticed them when they were in season.

Still, let me know your cranberry juicing experiences.

Juice 1/2 pineapple and add 1 bag fresh cranberries. I found some organic frozen ones in our health food store. The fresh ones should be comming out next month! Yea!
I bought whole case (12) bags and they keep in crisper drawer for a long time. Joz

Ooh, thank you!

Does that make it really tart, though? Aren't cranberries tart on their own? I actually don't know, I've never had fresh.

Pineapple is probably less tart than cranberries... lol!

Store-bought cranberry juice is always diluted with apple juice or grape juice because cranberry juice is incredibly strong and tart by itself. I don't know what proportions would be best, but keep that in mind when you're trying to make fresh cran juice.

Yeah, I know. Thats why I assumed those who do make it add a sweetener of some sort. Thats why adding pineapple surprised me. All the pineapple i've been getting hasn't been as sweet as it was at the beginning of summer. :(

The first time I made it I was 'puckering up' for the sour taste and was shocked that it was not. Only once I added a splash of agave but was not impressed so I do not. Can't wait for them to hit the markets. Did you make the raw cranberry ralish? it isn't tart once the cranberries are broken/ground up. Joz

No, I've never had any fresh cranberries, only dried cranberries and canned cranberry sauce; well, and bottled cranberry juice, too.

I can't wait till we get some in the stores. I want to dehydrate them. The only dried ones I can find are sweetened and I don't want those. I know you can freeze them. My mom used to do this. I should think everyone would be able to get fresh ones although they seem to sell out quickly and you sometimes have to really hunt them down in the produce section. Not sure if you could get organic ones though.

I've never had fresh/ dried cranberries or cranberry juice. But I've seen fresh organic cranberries at Wal-mart towards the end of october/november every year

I used some stuff I bought at the store. It sounded and tasted raw. I really think it was. You mix it with water. I have been drinking on it when I have my yeast/bladder issues. If I get home and remember the name of the stuff I will post it.

I love cranberries. Aeshetically, I think they're beautiful (as is all raw food, of course!), and I know they're "good for you".
However, I haven't tried juicing them yet although will toss in a handful of cranberries when I make green smoothies.
At first I was nervous, thinking it would be over-powering in its sourness. It wasn't at all, though. I would think this would be the case juicing them along with sweeter fruits.

It would be yummy in orange juice.
