Hi,

I found out that many people say raw food is very hard to digest, I guess it seems paradoxical to me because I have better bowel movements now than before raw. I also have a lot of gas now too. Does anyone else have the same problem? Thanks for any info.

Certain raw foods may be harder to digest such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and the tougher greens. That doesn't stop many from eating these foods, but compared to fruit, tender greens (lettuces) and the like, those aforementioned veggies are harder to digest but some tend to marinate those veggies and/or dehydrate to soften them down a bit...similar to steamed but without the high heat.

In addition some bodies must have an adjusting period when first going raw to get their digestive system used to all the new fiber and such.

The more than 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) of bacteria in our guts view raw food as a different food than cooked crap, so there is a considerable adjustment which takes place, producing lots of gas.

Those veggies that are apparently harder to digest (I don't really know what that means??), instead of eating them, juice them and then eat the pulp seperately mixed with some pure water to give it a porridge-like consistency.

Since going 80 - 90% raw - no more intestinal upsets, diahrea (never could spell that word) and regular with no problem. No unpleasant smell either!!
