I have been 811rv since going raw in January. I'm just wondering what kinds of dressings you like to use on your salads. I'm looking for some new ones. Don't you just love 811? Thanks!

Doug's got a few good dressing ideas on his video "Making Friends with your foods" and also in his "High Energy Diet Recipe" book.

Basically, when tomatoes are available fresh and taste so delicious I do this:
Blend: 3 tomatoes, 1/2 red pepper, 1 stalk celery and 1/2 avocado
If you don't have an avocado, substitute 1/4 cup walnuts

Or, you can mix a 1/2 avocado with citrus juice (1/2 lemon, orange, grapefruit, etc).

The variations can be many. For example, add in raspberries or other berries, etc.

Hope this helps. I too would welcome any ideas you may have. This topic was posted somewhere here on this board too with other great ideas. We'll have to look again.

Cheers,
Fiddler

Thanks for your ideas. I'll try them. Can you tell me what your typical day (as far as food goes) is like? Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

Thanks for your ideas. I'll try them. Can you tell me what your typical day (as far as food goes) is like? Thanks so much for sharing your experience!Sure, I'd be happy to share.

Usually, I get up and move around a bit before eating. I'm typically not that hungry until mid-morning. I also like to do my workouts before my first meal whenever I can.

That said my day is typically simple. Fruit all day and then a salad (usually organic romaine lettuce but I mix it up occasionally) with some dressing. Dressing may be Tomato-Avocado-RedPepper-Celery or some other blended variation. Sometimes I eat greens or other veggies during the day too.

The fruit during the day is whatever is fresh, in-season, organic whenever possible and on-sale. I often get great deals from a wholesale distributor.

Today:
- 2 papayas
- Blended Bananas (a blender full w/ distilled water added - about 7 or 8 bananas)
- 1 head of romaine lettuce leaves on my drive up to the Pickin Party. I had just rinsed off the lettuce and placed in a baggie. Then on the drive up I just chomped away -- Yummy. Amazing how much I like the taste of romaine these days.
- 6 bananas, followed by some tomatoes and fruit salad I found at the Bluegrass Pickin party SAD potluck I went to tonight. Amazing -- On a 30 feet long spread, there was only about 4 dishes present that were healthy. Some great garden fresh tomatoes, some sliced cantaloup, watermelon and some dried up vegetable tray that didn't look too appealing to me. And the fruit salad was okay.
- Blended 5 more bananas after jamming when I got to my inlaws house on the return trip home.

Anyway, the above is a typical day. When I'm home during the week I tend to blend alot of fruit smoothies. My favorite is orange juice-bananas-mixed berries. I still eat frozen bananas in my smoothies; however, I'm aware that frozen is not optimal and I'm conscious to not overeat on the frozen bananas.

I try to mix up my food choices too to get a variety. I do think eating plenty of greens (3-5% total calories) is a good idea too.

Hope this answers your question,
Fiddler

Fiddler, I have a question too......

Would it be correct to say that of all the raw teachings, you lean towards Graham?

Have you eye color changed at all? If yes, how far into raw did you notice a big difference?

Grazie!

Thanks for posting that Fiddler! It seems like we are pretty similar. I just love 811. For awhile I was eating mostly mono meals and I feel like I needed more variety for more nutrients. So I added some more things back in. I'm glad to see that you do that as well. For a long time I was only eating bananas and greens. I love nonsweet fruits too and missed those in my salad, so I added them back in. Thanks again for sharing and I'm so glad that you made your one year anniversary. I still have 3 months to go!

Yes, I fall into Graham's 811rv camp. 811rv just seems to make so much sense to me and seems so natural.

My eyes are blue. I don't think they've changed. Don't know if they're clearer or not or if that is just my perception since I've heard so many times before that RAW fooders get clearer eyes.

Daisyduke: It is important that we get a variety of fruits and vegetables over the course of weeks/months/years. Graham repeats this often in his writings/talks.

Fiddler
