I tried that recipe for the raisin-walnut torte from Alissa's book and I replaced the raisins with figs because I like them more, so the base was really simple but fairly yummy.... not delectable or anything, but I liked it and I liked how it held together in a dense cake.... but then I made the frosting out of lemon juice and dates and that part was just unpleasant... it didn't taste bad but was wierd enough tasting that I really didn't want to eat the thing.... Did anyone else like this recipe or are you wierded out by the frosting as well? I was thinking that something like orange juice would me much better instead of the lemon. Any recommendations for substitutions, because I do like the overall concept... it is a nice thing to have around to have 1 or 2 yummy bites when you are hungry between meals since it is so dense.

what about the one Rawkinloc makes? I bet that would taste good on it.
