MORE GREAT NEWS!

Alissa is going to be on Tyra Banks show. She is filming next week!

From what we understand so far, they are giving 3 diet people each a group. These groups will do the specified diet and then after a month they will come back and we will see how they do. So Alissa will be on again in a month.

WOW! I will post the times and stations and all of that as soon as we know more!

Oh, may the weak gentle forces win!

Is it an idea to:

- put the video of the Tyra Banks show on youtube.com?

- And than make a new forumcategory on rawfoodtalk.com, maybe with the name "videointerviews"

- And in this category is a link to the interview on youtube.com.
* Also other interviews with Alissa can take place here,
* and maybe also interviews with other rawfoodleaders. Ah, just some toughts while being happy about this :p

Hi Carmel,

You said she would be given a group of people. Do these people get to pick which route they want to take? They may not like "100% raw" and not full fill it. I've seen the other shows and some people stick to the program and some don't. I would hope that the people that are "given" to Alissa are those who are already interested in raw foods.

I can't wait to get more details on this! I'm really excited about this show!

I believe that the Tyra Banks show is shown on Living TV in the UK. Also, I imagine that Alissa's RawFood Reality show will also be shown on something like Living TV or Channel 4 in the UK (they get all the other reality shows from the US).

I'm excited she's going to be on there, but my first thought was "I hope her group has an open mind." Raw is definitely something that is not going to be an easy change for those who don't want it. It's hard enough for those of us who do!
I really hope they come out on top.
I hate when a niche group gets a chance to be talked about, and it for whatever reason backfires/doesn't go as it should have & gives the niche a bad rep. I could totally word that better, but I can't think of how right now. lol.

VSL - I don't get Living TV (don't pay for satellite channels) and don't think Tyra's show is on in UK on Channel 4. Perhaps one day :)

Oh, I so agree that I hope this doesn't backfire, but you know what? If it does, it does. It will be their loss. I can't imagine that the folks eating her recipes would not love it.

Who are these folks? Are they someone that Alissa gets to pick or are they people that the studio gets to pick? Hmmmm...should be interesting...

For those of you overseas, I too hope that they will link a video for you guys!!!

We need to get Alissa on Oprah. Oprah is open-minded and WOW - could you imagine Oprah after 30 days? WHOA!!! That would be some major, major publicity!!!

Or at least get Alissa in Oprah's magazine...

The email I received today said that Alissa's group would be up against the woman from The Biggest Loser and the guy from Celebrity Fit Club. (Sorry, I don't remember their names. I don't watch much tv). So it looks to me as if this is going to be specifically a "weight loss challenge". Now, most of us here would say over and over that Raw is NOT a weight loss regime. I was under the impression after reading her book, that Alissa felt the same way. I guess I am a bit confused about why Alissa would cast Raw in such a light? I'm sure she has valid reasons. Carmel? Alissa?

Personally I think Raw is the hardest "diet" I have ever tried to stick to! If I were doing it to lose weight I would have quit a long time ago. Yes, I HAVE lost weight, but there are a heck of a lot of easier (and less healthy) ways to lose weight. I eat Raw because it makes me beautiful and happy and CALM around food. I absolutely love it and would, even if I never lost another pound. But to take people from a SAD diet and plunge them into Raw for 30-days just to lose weight quickly... Well, I wish them luck!

Btw, I sincerely hope I will be proven wrong ;)

The woman from The Biggest Loser is the trainer, Jillian Michaels. She's had some awful things to say about people who are vegetarians/vegans. So, I'm pretty sure that'll be interesting.

Hey Veganforlife - I think that is a good idea for Oprah! I don't watch TV - a link on here would be great. Maybe showing how raw is good for weight loss is just a foot in the door to reach the many people who could benefit from raw. Even if people try raw just to lose weight - will they stay raw for the other benefits? I am currently thinking of the people who think that there is a secret government conspiracy to make us all vegetarian......or Michael Savage - wonder what snipes he would take at RAW?

Guppy,

I don't think Alissa feels any less that raw is not a diet, but is a lifestyle however, while some people may gain an interest in this way of life FOR the sake of a new way of life...a great majority of the people who become interested in raw do so either for bodily healing, weight loss or both.

I don't think it is a bad thing to do this IMHO because it shows people that there are healthier ways. People are becoming more and more desperate as they discover that diets don't work and it is much better for a show such as this to give people the healthier option of eating raw than for people to feel that bariatric surgery is the only way out.

Most who started eating raw primarily for weight loss reasons eventually DO come to the realization that this is NOT a diet, but a lifestyle and either they will drop it and let it go (as they may have done with other things) or they will embrace it as such and continue on...weight loss or not.

I think that if this will introduce raw even more to the mainstream society, that is great because it's planting a seed. People will see the show and they will become interested in raw due to the show and the possibilities of being able to lose weight in a healthier manner and then they will discover that along with losing weight, they are getting healthier, feeling great, having more energy, etc. and the word will continue to spread.

Even in Alissa's book, there is mention of a benefit to raw being weight loss, the before and afters in her book and on her site are also testiment to this.

We have to be realisitic...people have, do and always will gain interest in raw for the sole purpose of weight loss as that is a major issue amongst many in our world. Losing weight is, for many, just as detrimental as gaining healing because many of the things people suffer are related to their weight gain.

I just look at the whole thing as a positive that will bring raw even more into the limelight and get people interested. Plant the seed and reach people where they are and with what their needs are and then from there, we can educate them about raw being more a way of life than a diet and help them stick with it regardless to whether or not they lose weight.

Hi Guppy. I wanted to answer your post, but first - lets send all of our most positive energy and thoughts to this!!

Now, imagine this. 3 groups of people. 2 given the same old count your calories, drill sargeant diet that every overweight person has already done. 1 given the magic of raw foods. What are you worried about? Raw food is a wonderful way to lose weight, the easiest I have ever experienced.

See the 2 groups struggling, sweating and depriving, wondering how they will keep this up after the drill sergeant goes home.

See the raw group, amazed by something new, inspired by Alissa's incredible energy, exposed to an entirely different way, eating starwberry crepes and the like. Imagine what the world will be exposed to when at the end of 30 days the people say " wow, my sleep has changed.....my sinuses have cleared....my energy is different...my headaches are gone...my back doesnt hurt anymore..my eczema cleared up..I lost weight..I have never felt so good in my life" Imagine what the world will be exposed to listening to Alissa educate them...thinking, what she healed her fibromyalgia? I didn't know that was possible.

One possible vision. Its all about the vision. One thing I have learned working for Alissa. Her vision is always positive, and so too are the results she gets.
Lets envision only positive things for this amazing opportunity. You dont know which viewer will be watching this show so that raw can save their life.

Warmly~
Carmel

We get the Tyra Banks show over here but it is probably older shows.
Is there anyone that watches it regularly.
If I look tomorrow and post what it is about then someone may be able to tell me how old that epesode is and then I can figure out how long we over here will have to wait.

It can't be other than since it all depends on one's perception of the experience.

I don't know Alissa well yet, one thing I do know is, she will receive benefit from it and use it for her personal evolution no matter how others percieve what's going on. Hooooorah!!!

It will be pretty funny when Jillian sees the guns on Alissa. I am only assuming Alissa doesn't have a tough work-out regimen as most on raw don't, and I've heard stories of folks only having to weight train once or twice a week.

Wouldn't it be a hoot to give the anti-vegans and vegetarians who claim to be "healthy" a run for their money?

And also the contestants will be so excited when they drop their meds, their skin clears up and their energy is huge. Their "side-effects" will end up as the REAL results. It's more like "I'm healed of everything - oh, and I lost all the weight too."

I can't wait for this to come out.

Well there is hope for everyone. The Apostle Paul was once behind killing all believers until things turned around for him. Then he spent the rest of his life spreading the good news.

I think many of us, at one time probably thought people "like us" were wacko, ridiculous and extreme. But now look at us!

Sharon - I can't agree more! I have thought a lot about this today and too see nothing but positive coming out of it. I admit. I was turned on to Alissa's web site months ago by my health food store owner/friend, bookmarked the site, but never really paid any attention to it until my son and I were discussing Raw Vegans that really got my curiosity up. I read and read and read this forum, and one day, ONE DAY after going 100% raw I felt a world of difference! I have suffered from migraines my entire life. Tomorrow will be week seven of my going raw and I have not had one migraine. This is something I can never, ever remember in my life (52 years of living) that I have NOT had a migraine! I feel energized, I sleep well. It is truly amazing. I think this program is really, really going to shed light on the importance of fresh, raw foods.
Hey McCrap and all your crappy meals - shove it!!!
Sorry, just had to throw that in there.
I do see nothing but goodness and knowledge and healing coming out of this. My son-in-law who is a die-hard, meat and potato guy was mesmerized by Alissa's DVD. He stood and watched it (as he was walking by and it was on), and this was after he tasted and LOVED the Angel hair and marinara. If it could capture HIM, it will capture a lot of people!
I am thrilled with this!!!
You go Alissa!!! You are truly an Angel sent from above... :D

I'm glad someone bumped this. I forgot all about it.

I also wonder if they're going to do free-raw-eating or if they're going to restrict calories too, to make the weightloss and health even more extreme. Although that might backfire when people see they can only eat raw food AND they have to limit calories. I hope they let them eat anything as long as its raw. But then they might have results like mine, and not lose an ounce, lol!

And something like raw-dating?

A raw one has to date with a non-raw one, the latter has to be directed
towards as high as possible weight loss and % rawness.
There will be a price for the winner of this competition, maybe there will be love-matches, couples could judge other couples etc..
