It is now official as far as I am concerned.
Raw chocolate causes me to have a bad night. I had chocolate icecream at about 6.PM and thought that I was safe as the last time it had happened I had it at 9 PM and accepted the concequences.
One spoonfull of raw chocolate powder and I could not get to sleep. When I did get to sleep about 3AM I woke up about 4 times afterwards.
There is nothing else that has this effect on me. I was never a coffee drinker so I guess I just can not take any caffene and am getting more sensitive to it as I get cleaner.
Anyway I have discovered blueberry ice cream so all is not lost.

Please tell us what ingredients you are using to make raw chocolate or what it is you are eating? Is it the raw choco nibs?

Hmmmm

Chocolate typically has the opposite effect on me. I guess the tryptophan overides the caffeine in my body.

Hello there,

I found raw cacao to be very stimulating! :-) I felt like I was high! LOL. You can use raw carob powder instead, it is chocolate-y and yummy and is not stimulating.

All the best,

I buy raw chocolate powder from detoxyourworld. I have the nibs as well but never use them and probably never will. I also have the carob powder and mix the chocolate and the carob and then just add it to frozen bananas with just a dash of agave.
I will try the carob on it's own to see if I like it.
When I make raw chocolate I melt cacoa butter and add chocolate powder and carob powder and agave. Then I add chopped cashews and gogi berries. I have not made this for a few weeks now and will probably give it up as I am transitioning to 8 1 1.

YEP, me too, I love raw cacao nibs, ground into powder in shakes and such, I used to eat the chocolate ice cream all the time, now if I have one, I'm up all night, so I usualy share one with a fiend, or else, I only have one or two bites, or I only have it in the am.

it's the thermobromine, or whatever that is, it is a stimulant, but then carrott juice does that to me. too. LOL

Every body responds differently. Try it at different times of the day. Doesn't work for you at night? Don't eat it.

I find I can eat it whenever and it doesn't effect my sleep

Me too! In fact, when I would eat some in the morning by the time lunch time came around I was shaky and feeling terrible. It sure made me feel giddy and energetic though!

When I was younger I had no problem with Caffine. Now that I am older it might taste good but I can feel it kick in and I ask myself what the heck did you eat with caffine.................

I did an experiment and found that not eating chocolate had no effect on my insomnia. Actually my average sleep time while off cacao was probably slightly later (maybe 3:30AM on average as opposed to 3AM on cacao).
