ok , wild guess = the ring part cuts a hole in citrus fruit , you use the u shaped handle part to turn the ring part back and forth so it cuts skin . then i guess you squeeze the juice out for drinking . first you remove the peice of skin that was cut to make hole . i guess dont need glass just squeeze directly into mouth .

The folks who said corn cutter are correct.

Looks like something you'd see on the antique road show, ha?

I almost bought one of these a couple of months ago, but then I opted for a stainless steal one, which was much more expensive. I wish I hadn't gotten the other one.

This one is stainless steel thank goodness.

I was only limited by the depths of my sick imagination what could have been the history with this device, which looked like it could be used for torture for certain genders, so I boiled it for a full 5 minutes when I got it home.

LOL!

Well the one I got looked nothing like that one. It was long and about 3 inches across and had a blade in the center. It makes such a mess and doesn't cut that great. How does yours work? I may get one next time I go back to the kitchen store, cause this one is just not cutting it.

I got 3 ears of corn tonight and will keep you posted - I will proabably try it out tomorrow so I can make a salad to take to this cook out tomorrow.

I'd love to know how this works out Sharon, I just may have to go out and buy one! I always worry I'll cut myself getting that corn off the cobb!

Turns out there wasn't enough time to make a corn salad but I will do this for tomorrow as we were invited over someone else's home.

Bought serveral corns at Farmer's Market and my good old long knife took care of removing the corn instantly. It works great but don't have anything else to compare it to either.
