ugh, is it possible to gain weight eating this way? I think I have! I was always a healthy eater. I know I am eating more calories now (damn nuts)and more fat (olive oil etc). What am I doing wrong??

Looks like you answered your own question! Too many calories and fat. Unfortunately, calories still count - raw or not!

not eating enough fruit and greens, veggies, leaving you hungry and foraging for fat & dense foods. This is common when starting Raw but at least you are recognizing it now and can change that. If you eat predominately fruit and greens you will not need to count.

How much movement are you doing? Sometimes it's not the food program. It could be a change in other areas of one's lifestyle.

Unfortunately not much recently. I have chronic back problems and its been awful . I am a certified personal trainer though and used to work out like a feind. I also have hypothyroid so I gain weight REAL easily! Hopefully its just bulk like all the nuts and bananas Ive been eating. I think Im going to give up the nuts for a week and get back on track and then incorporate them back. Im reading Alissas book so Im sure that will shed light on what I might be doing wrong. I thikn its maybe too much nuts and fruits. <sigh> I have having constant weight issues since my thyroid BLAGH.... Im hoping eating raw will help that too

Generally when it comes too nuts it is not having them in the diet BUT eating too many of them. The average serving of nuts is small and I can down a few servings before I know it, then add in the raw recipes with nuts...so I severely limited nuts the last two weeks and dropped two pounds already.

I would keep the fruit, just switch banana's to some other fruit if needed !!

Bananas are your friend. They are the best food for weight loss. They will take away any cooked food cravings or fat food cravings that you may have. They will make you feel fuller for longer. Some weeks I go eating nothing but bananas and I always lose a couple of pounds (and I only weigh 108 right now). Believe me, eat bananas.

OK I had a hard time with this concept but decided to try it. I was able to reduce my almond consumption by eating more banana's. (something I have tried to do time and time again...) So I lost two pounds this week, eating banana's.....I take back my doubt.

If I may suggest, only weighing once a month in the mornings, in the buff, and on a empty stomach, after you have elimanated. It builds excitement all month. Week to week I go up and down, but once a month is the real deal.

Lay - you are right. I just posted another post. see I am trying to recover from an ED and until I started RAW I gave up the scale. now since starting raw and gaining (even clothes dont fit) im on it every day. bad I know but I am so discouraged. I have been raw 10 days and gained 5 lbs. ive followed the plan the way Alissa said. Im also hypothyroid (on meds and regulated) and I have chronic back issues which sometimes keeps me from working out for weeks. I am a retired personal trainer (due to my back) and just so depressed about this. blagh...I wish I was comfortable in my skin no matter what I weighed!
