Soaking Nuts, how long?

I've seen recipes for soaked almonds but I don't how long to soak them for. Any ideas? Thanks.

What do you soak nuts in? water?

When soaking, I put them in a glass jar, cover with good water, and soak overnight or till ready to use in recipes. They make for a smoother consistancy this way.

I know some redehydrate, but I prefer them softer. Easier on my teeth! :)
