I have read that medicines dont really go along with the raw food experience. However, I have hypothyroidism and that requires that I take a daily dose of Synthroid. This is something I will continue to take throughout the rest of my life because life is miserable when your thyroid doesnt work. Is there anyone out there who has to take medication also???

Me me me LOL

Let me tell ya. For the last 2 1/2 years I've had chronic pain, had my gallbladder taken out (for no good reason), have been on about 10 different tummy meds, and am currently on 3 "mental" meds.

I went raw almost 2 months ago. My pain has disappeared, and I'm now off every single tummy med.

I am also on 1/3 of the dose of one medication, and 1/2 of another. (Doctor approved changes). She and I are setting a goal to be completely off all medication in two years.

I think Raw can change the world. Keep hope that you may be able to heal your body enough to where you can lower or get off the medications! :D

I take synthroid and dexadrine (for ADD). So yeah...I would NOT get off of your meds!!! I believe if it helps, your doc will lower then as seems fitting.

I would love to think that at some point my body might heal itself of the thyroid problem, but if not that is fine as well. :)

I believe it will. Many people have gotten rid of their medication, including those for hypothyroidism, through raw foods. If you do a search on this forum, you will find some inspiring stories.

What everybody else has said.

A lot of people find that when they go raw they naturally need less or eventually maybe no medication. But it's a process, don't force it. In other words, your body will let you know when it's ready. And of course, I'd imagine for something like hypothyroidism you'd want to be working with your doctor on this. . .I've heard many delightful stories of people going to a doctor's visit and having the doctor be all puzzled-like saying "Wow, your condition has really improved, let's take you off your meds" etc. :)

I myself went from using five prescription meds daily to using one occasionally.
