Eat more fat.

It's definitely tough...it seems that for many of us it just takes one bite of cooked food to start a vicious cycle of cheating. (I'm sort of in the same place right now).
What works best for me is to think back on what motivated you to go RAW in the first place (I like to journal - but that doesn't work for everybody). I constantly remind myself that every meal is an opportunity to make a choice.
Not sure if this helps, but please know you've got support!

maybe if you eat something fairly healthy when you cheat?

Once you have a even a small bite of cooked food, you risk getting hooked again. I was raw for two weeks and I stopped because I ate a piece of chicken  and just recently, I decided to get back on track. I bought Alissa's book for that reason.

I fell off the wagon and crashed and burned. All the old obssessions came back; all the old aches and pains, too. I went right back to my old way of eating.
Find a friend to make some raw food with. Start with one healthy meal.
I am working my way back, as well....
Good luck to you.

I have no advice, but just want to say that I love juijitsu too. I only trained for 2 years and stopped due to not being able to find a good school. Also, I live close to the California coast too.

I agree; eat more fat. Eat olives or avocados; they are fruit.
You store fat when you eat more carbs than you can use as fuel, or when you eat fat that you don't know what to do with (such as hydrogenated oil). Eating raw olives or avos won't make you fat.

If you want to lose weight then I recommend staying 811. That said, you need to eat higher calorie fruits. I never have cravings for fat or cooked foods when I eat lots of bananas. I mean lots of bananas. Don't even count how many, just eat and eat them until you aren't craving anymore. Good luck.

ditto! Maybe your not yet ready to go 8/1/1. Enjoy your avocado and eat it too! :D
If you feel you are ready then increase your banana intake I would think.
I would love to someday get to the 8/1/1, but I'm not there yet and that is ok with me. Somedays I am there and other days I need the fat. I am still losing/

You might need some more fat. I know that the fats keep me going most of the time when I want to cheat. If I can have an avocado or some nuts I feel satisfied and don't cheat.

I am starting 8 1 1 now after 13 months of raw. I do not think that it is something you should start at the beginning. Wait until you are happy in your raw and have no problems with cravings and then go 8 1 1.
I think that perhaps you are just being over ambitious. Do it Alissa's way. Just eat what you want as long as it is raw.

I agree. I am 12 months RAW and I am transitioning to 8-1-1, and it is something you need to do after being RAW for awhile.

When I went raw in January of this year, I started with 8-1-1. I have never cheated or eaten cooked food. I have eaten no overt fats (except once) since then. I don't believe that you can't start a raw lifestyle following 8-1-1. I did it and it has worked perfectly. I think if you are really craving you need more calories, not more fat. I say eat more bananas.

Hello there,
You need to make sure that you are eating enough to stay satisfied and eat stuff that you really, really like. You want to feel abundantly nourished and satisfied at all times. Try doing some affirmations to help you change your mindset from one of deprivation to one of abundance.
I follow 80/10/10 but I acknowledge that some people need to wait longer to transition to a simpler, low fat diet. I think it is better to stay raw by eating some more fat or complicated recipes for awhile if you need to feel more satisfied.
Try eating a lot more fruit and doing some emotional work. Try to stay conscious and figure out if your cravings are triggered by stress or conflict or other negative feelings. Work on developing more positive ways to deal with these feelings, journaling, meditating, praying, talking to supportive friends, etc..
All the best,
Audrey

80% or more of your calories from carbs
10% or less from fat
10% or less from protein

I am not saying that it is not possible but I feel that if someone is not managing to stick with it then the best thing is to go raw regardless and try again when they have lost the cravings.
