If you read my Cheese YIKES!!! thread, you will know that I accidentally got some feta cheese in a salad a couple of days ago, and I didn't know it.

that was Saturday, so on Sunday, I found myself really craving fettuccini alfredo, lots of oil, pasta, cream, parmesian, YIKES!!!

I just acknowledged that I wanted it, but did not eat it, I have raw tostadas instead, they were delicious, but I did eat about twice what I normally would eat, and I accepted that I was hungry, and that was fine to eat.

Well, today, it is even worse, I'm really having these cravings, for cheese, ARGH!!!

I won't have any of course, but this is the number one reason, I don't cheat, or have a cheat day, or have a planned cheat, or any of that nonsence, because, ONCE you eat a little tiny bit of your addictive substance, (mine is wheat and dairy), then you can hardly stay away from it.

So, I am white knuckling it through yet one more day of cravings.

I will be fine, I will endure, I will get through this, I know it'll only be a day or so and I'll be back to my merry self, with just eating fruits and such, but right now, this minute, I am soooooooo craving cheese, again --- ARGH!!!

I'm gonna' make an almond milkshake, they always fill me up and satisfy me, with the almond oil and they are gooooood.

NOT cheese, but goooooooood.

So, please know -- this is WHY you go raw, then STAY raw.

LOL

and it was all an accident, last time I eat anything at a friend's house, unless I made it. LOL

and a YIKES!!! to boot!

Stay strong! Why don't you make a raw cheese? ..or raw alfredo?

I have always found that once I give into a craving, I simply cannot stop eating! Then it leads to bingeing on all kinds of bad stuff and then the weight piles on again.

Alissa has lots of things in her book that should take your mind off the dairy cheese. One of my all time Alissa favourites is the blueberry cheesecake - all the taste and noon of the guilt!

hey you're doing awesome! From what i've heard Dr. Neal Barnard say about cheese, it has addictive substances that are like morphine that make you addicted to it. So you are battling a terrible beast with addictive substances coursing through your body asking you to consume more! All the power to you. I know you are strong enough to overcome it.

Seriously.

I decided to just give in and get a veggie whopper from BK. That was the beginning of a 3 week cooked streak. I did a 3 day fast, and broke it yesterday. All raw yesterday and today. Go me. :P

You can do this, RP!

Stay the course.

If, by chance, you do slip up....

We will still love you! :)

Most importantly, you will still love YOU!

I had a similiar experience over the weekend. I quickly realized that something was not right and they brought me a new plate, so I avoided the whole cravings. Your doing great, hold onto it.

Oh, my dear raw family, I"m not gonna' eat dairy, for sure, I'm just going along my merry raw day, and wanting to eat everything in site. LOL

I had an almond milk shake for lunch, I suppose I should eat some breakfast, or is that I had an almond milk shake for breakfast, I should eat some lunch? LOL

Stupid, stupid cheese!

I think the nut milks are a good answer. They'll fill you up and satisfy you.

Well, when someone here posted that the reason that cheese was white, from white blood cells aka pus, that pretty much did it for me. That and some of those vegsource videos that were linked here last week.

Before that I had been indulging in some unpastuerized cheese and even non-fat cheese and milk chocolate because I was having dairy cravings. After watching the videos I had a few "natural" cheese puffs and some non-dairy but likely cooked rice cheese and now I'm not buying any more of that junk.

The desire is completely gone now.

Now I think I have an aversion to the stuff.

So if it works for you, the next time you have a cheese craving, think of the cow puss. That should turn you off right away!

I wonder about that, I've heard that, too. Human breast milk is almost the same color. What's the difference? I highly doubt we're feeding our children pus from birth 'til weaning. You know?

Hey, don't ruin it for me! LOL..

Actually my breast milk looked more watery than full fat cow's milk. It could be the fat too. I don't know.

RP:

A few comments -- sorry if I am stating the obvious or not really helping much! :-)

One -- you look AWESOME in your photos. Your skin is beautiful and your hair looks darker in that halter dress photo. Don't cut it -- in case you ever get the urge.

Second -- when we encounter the hidden "unraw" items -- drink lots of water -- much more than you normally would for the next day or two.

Third -- If you are still having the cheese cravings -- I throw together a quick dressing in my Magic Bullet that satisfies my need for the creamies. Note that I never measure anything - so make this according to your taste:

Raw Tahini (a little more of this to make the dressing thicker - more like a dip)
Lemon Juice
Olive Oil
Oregeno
Fresh Dill
Fresh Mint
Water
Sea Salt
Pepper

Wip it up and dip away with celery or raw cauliflower. You may now be craving some salt -- and this should do help you with the cravings.

- I never measure anything. My mother calls my sister Betty Crocker and me Betty Slopper!

:D You are a GODDESS -- and are inspirtation to us all -- not by raw eating alone -0- simply by being the wonderful woman whom you are!

Sharon you are so funny

"Stupid, stupid cheese."

LOL

trust me, I'm not going to eat any cheese, cow pus or lactate of another species. LOL

and yes, breast milk is more yellow and watery, or at least mine was, not so creamy thick white, I think milk looks like paint personally.

and I used to LOVE it, won't get near it now.

You might try some nut cheese. That's what I'm having for dinner. I made the nacho cheese but put only one clove of garlic in it instead of three. The flavor is much better for me. However, I think I got the world's mildest jalapenos. I bought three but one got mushy before I could use it. Two are just not enough. Can't taste any bite in it at all but it's still good. I put some in a bowl with sliced green onions on top and am eating it with pieces of pepper and celery. I didn't dehydrate the cheese. Just eating it as a dip.

OMG.... I wonder if that was why I snuck some SAD pizza tonight. I got some un asked for cheese on my salad today. And while i took most of it off, I think I ate some. Then tonight I got depressed over something and ate a whole slice of SAD pizza. That was my first intentional screw up in 3 months. It must have been in my system. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get rid of the cheese thing. This is so hard!

I'm holding on dear raw family,

Codajess, good for you --- you are doing great!!!!

I'm raw, I'm raw, I'm raw, that's my mantra right now, and I had cherries, and orange juice, and more orange juice, and more orange juice, just seemed to hit the spot,

Now I'm gonna' go get some dinner, (I know, it's after 10PM) I eat late, out of the freezer, burger patty, onion bread, hot sauce, lettuce tomatoes onion, they are a calling me, if I have them,

I need to make some more stuff, my uncooking partner is not here, so I guess I will have to make all this stuff by myself, well,

I CAN DO IT. now, where do I find the TIME to do it. LOL

stilleto, you are doing great, there is no failure, only feedback.

So, you can start tomorrow all over again, and eat raw food, it can be difficult to get out the cheese, but we can do it, we just have to get up tomorrow, and KNOW that eating raw is the best thing for us, and then go out and have a wonderfull day, and eat raw, and when we crave cheese, we can just understand the craving, and allow it to be what it is, a craving, nothing more or less.

You'll weather these cravings. It's true that many processed and cooked foods have addictive qualities. The dairy craving can be a difficult one to overcome once it gets into your system. I ate some raw cheese recently and my digestion was upset for days. I finally went for a colonic and now I'm feeling better. I admire your determination.

Rawpriestess,

Excellent!

Now you have proved an old biomedical hypothesis
about overweight and food craving (cheese craving for example):

Overweight is more connected to a raised opiate sensitivity than
a weak willpower.

http://www.newswise.com/articles/view/36091/

"It's not gluttony, weak will, or an oral personality that keep some of us tied to certain
foods," explains Dr. Barnard. "There's a biochemical reason many of us feel we can't live
without our daily meat, cheese, or sugar fix. Cheese, for example, contains high levels
of casein, a protein that breaks apart during digestion to produce morphine-like opiate
compounds, called casomorphins. These opiates are believed to be responsible for the
mother-infant bond that occurs during nursing. It's no surprise many of us feel bonded
to the refrigerator."

http://www.healthscience.org/Articles/Break_Food_Seduction.htm

“Cheese contains opiates,” said Barnard. “Dairy protein, casein, the fundamental protein
in cow’s milk, breaks apart in the digestive process, to release chemicals called casomorphins,
and the casomorphins are casein-derived, morphine-like substances.

“The casomorphins are opiates; the most powerful of them has about one-tenth the
narcotic power of pure morphine. It’s not enough to make you drive erratically, but it is
enough to give a certain addictive quality to these foods.”

Milk, yogurt and ice cream have a certain amount of casein in it, “but it is the process of
cheese making, when all the liquid is pressed together, which leaves just pure casein and
fat. And it’s the purest form of the casein — and once in your digestive track it breaks
down into casomorphins.”

That's why cheese is so addicting. Keep out!

I'm gonna' make an almond milkshake, they always fill me up and satisfy me, with the almond oil and they are gooooood.

That's gooood. DON'T EXCLUDE the cheese, EXHANGE it!

Eat something healthier, something better.
