I am wondering how much the nutrients and enzymes degrade if smoothies are made 12 hours ahead of time and kept refrigerated. I sometimes get short of time in the morning and making them the night before could be helpful. Does anyone know?

I do not know the answer. I know that we have been drinking smoothies as a regular part of our diet for at least 7 years every morning. Sometimes we make them up in advance either the night before or for a morning snack about 2 hours after the first one.
I remember hearing somewhere the loss of nutrients is about the same as juice when done in advance. I do not know where I got that information I think a Vita Mix distributor but, I may be lying about that.

I don't know the answer, but that is what I often do. I find that if I don't have any prepared ones in the morning, I usually end up not drinking it. So, it's either loss of some nutrient or no nutrient.

I remember in the book 'Green for Life' Victoria says that she has found that the quality of smoothies doesn't degrade as quickly as juice does. She was talking about taste/color though. I don't think she did any test for the nutritional value, but she thought that the fiber helped keep the drink fresh.
Hope that helps!

Since most people buy their fruit, not even ripe, allow it to sit in the truck, then the store, then their fridge, I'd say, "what is a few hours more or less."
If it makes it easier for you, go on ahead and make them the night before.
but if you have a choice, I'd say, pick it off the tree, and eat it standing there, that is optimal, but we each have to do what works for us.
A 12 hours old fruit smoothie, is WAYYYY better than ham and eggs.
You are doing sooooo great!!!

Thanks RP!
I am actually feeling better this week...not as much fatigue, more energy, better digestion. I haven't done a calorie count, but it is probably low as I am eating less. I will see how it goes.
As far as things being better than ham and eggs, I am 4 months raw and 20 years vegan. No plans of going back from raw. My wife is now trying it out. I know there are gradations, but I want to be informed with I make my choices and not assume that it is healthy just because it is raw.
Thanks again for the encouragement!
