I was looking at the food combining chart in Alissa's book and I have a couple of questions.

Does anyone know how the asterisks work? At the bottom, it says they are items to be avoided, but whole columns are asterisked. My thought is that the columns asterisked are to to be avoided entirely, except for the columns that have asterisked items in them. In those columns, only the asterisked items are to be avoided. What do you all think?
Carrots are in one of the asterisked columns that have nothing specifically asterisked, so I am thinking D. Graham is advocating avoidance of carrots. Is that accurate? If so, why?
Anybody know why leafy greens like kale and collards aren't listed?

The asterisk (*) is marked to denote "Not recommended but included for clarity and completeness".

These are marked on Legumes, Starches/Grains, Fats/Oils and Proteins.

Graham is against the consumption of these foods marked with an asterisk.
I don't have Alissa's page in front of me, but according to Doug's "The High Energy Diet Nutrition Guide", pretty much all of the startches/grains column can be considered "not optimal". All of the fats/Oils are marked with asterisks except for a few items like Avocado, and the oils. All of the proteins (like meat) are to be excluded except for almonds and other nuts and seeds.

Graham advises to eat sparingly on the fats and proteins so as to maintain his 80/10/10 ratios.

Hope this helps.

Kale was probably not listed because the column space is limited. I would think Graham would be okay with consumption of kale and collards.

Don't really know Graham's take on carrots. That's a good question. Maybe someone else could respond to this one.

Hope this helps.
