I've never been officially tested or diagnosed with candida but I figure I have it since both my mom and my sister have it and they've always followed a much healthier diet than I used to. Most of my life I've lived off of breads, pastas, and candy. I heard that if you have candida that fruit is actually bad and can make weight loss even harder if not impossible. The only thing making me able to keep to my 75% raw these past few weeks is the fact that Ive been eating pretty much as much fruit as I want for breakfast and lunch (minus bananas). If I can't eat fruit then I really dont think I can do this lifestyle. I have yet to find a single vegetable dish that I really, truly enjoy.
Has anybody else heard this? From most of what I've read about being raw/vegan, it sounds like eating this way fixes just about any ailment one may have, but if candida thrives off of sugars/carbs/yeast then fruit would only make it worse, right?
Anybody have a personal experience to share on this?

I was told by a naturpath that I have severe Candida. He told me when I was 19 then again when I was 28 ... I obviously never dealt with it when I was 19. When he seen me last year.. my candida was one of the worst cases he has seen. Right before I seen him I just had my baby.. I was on antibiotics for a week straight, given through IV - as you probably know Antibiotics is the best thing to help candida to multiply. I went on a quest to try to combat it... I tried the candida diet, and several others. What bothered me is that every candida diet was a little different. I also lost a little weight but would plateau at the same number I always get stuck at. I would still bloat and feel yucky eating the "allowed" foods, and also still have my major mood swings. I then came across someone who introduced me to Raw foods.
I've ended my quest.. of diets period. This is the way I want to eat for life.
I'm still struggling to stay raw, thats a given for being a cooked food addict. I don't bloat any more, my tummy after a while starts to deflate a bit, my mood swings are gone, and I'm just a happier person.
Everytime I feed myself some cooked food.. I feel so gross, but yet I should.. I just fed my candida something to make it grow!!!!
In a year I would love to go back to my naturepath, and see how much my candida has cleared up, or maybe even gone!

Email Rawkinlocs. Her advice to me on this subject was invaluable!

If you do a 100% raw diet with fruit, from my experience and what I have heard from other people you will get rid of the candida. I did a fruit restricted candida diet and got rid of it, but later got it back when I went back to eating the old way., but eating just raw with high fruit I have lost weight and have no candida. Try it!

I had Candida years ago (I think I am currently getting rid of traces of it). Good things to take for it are garlic (and the rest of the genus - garlic is too strong to eat every day now but I can eat lots of leeks and onions), pau d'arco (Tabebuia - has various other names) tea, and monolaurin, which is found in raw coconut oil. The diet I was on (and that was the only time I was on a diet) I couldn't do for more than five months.

I suggest looking into Gabriel Cousins Books.

I think Alissa had it and eats lots of fruit too, she has since cured it with the RAW diet. Maybe do a search on candida and have a rummage through old posts on this topic.
all the best with it!
