Well it depends if they are organic or not?
If they are not organic - you'll want to skin them. Some company's put a lite coating of wax on them on top of the fertilizers. If they are organic, then supposedly you can just wash them off. and then eat it. But I usaully skin them just incase something happened to them before they came to me.

Wasn't it mango skin that was part of the poison ivy family or whatever...and can make people break out in hives or..something (I need to pay more attention to stuff.)

I was chewing on the pulp around the pit of a mango tonight and there was a little piece of skin on the top. I bit it and it was really bitter. It was a conventional mango so it could have been from the pesticide or something.

Yes you are correct, the white puss the is excreted from the stem when they are picked has the poison ivy juice in it.

According to what I've read you aren't suppose to eat the skin.
