Hi all. I'm trying to transition my family from vegan (and no sugar/flour) to a more raw focus. I have a 1 and 2 yr old and I need some meal ideas for quick breakfasts and lunchs. They have to be high calorie high fat (my son eats very little and my daughter recently lost a little weight) and I don't have a dehydrator yet. Thanks for any help!

Smoothies, ice cream, and puddings with either a banana or avoado base, sometimes both! I'm not sure about nuts since I don't do them and I don't know the age you can introduce them to children since they can be allergens.

Hi .. My 14 month old is not vegan , but she regularly enjoys all of my smoothies with almond butter, coconut water, bananas, fresh young coconut, and berries and dates for flavor.

She likes my green smoothies with kale and avocado and other fruits mixed in.

She loves the recipe for hummus and guacamole in Allissa's book. I put the guacamole on some sprouted tortillas (Ezekial brand) with cheese. She will devour it!

She also likes grilled portabello mushroom cut in little chunks spread with guacamole as well. I have to cook the veges for her because she has only got 4 teeth. Her food has to be soft or else she chokes and spits it all out.
I am planning on raising her vegetarian. But her dad likes meat and she will eat whatever he has on his plate quite readily!

Goodluck... I will be checking on this thread for more tips for my little one!!

My one yr old only has 4 teeth too! Haha here and I thought she was the only one.

So I made up something. I call them breakfast cakes. I put walnuts, almonds, dates, apricots, flax seed oil and agave through the food processor and dehydrated patties of it at like 115 all night. I sampled one and it was really good. We'll see how the kids like them when they get up!

I found a line of wonderful snack bars named LARABAR. They come in an assortment of flavors including Cinnamon Roll, Ginger Snap, Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, and Lemon Bar. They are raw and contain very few ingredients. I haven't tasted one I didn't like. The main ingredient is date then nuts. The three I have in front of me range from 190 to 220 calories and from 14 to 20% fat content. You can learn more about them at larabar.com. They can be found at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's for $1.29. They certainly beat (beyond beat) any protein bar. Why do people make those? I don't know about anyone out there but I haven't found a protein bar that doesn't taste like I just dug out the pvc piping in my backyard and taken a bite! Ok, so I'm just a bit partial to Lara Bars!

My Daughter is turning 3 very soon, I have been feeding her mostly raw since she was 15 months old.

She loves Carob pudding, and all kinds of fresh fruits. I have tried tons of dehydrated things and she likes the flax crackers the best. She also likes jicama fries.

Dont worry at this age the kids really dont like to eat very much. For breakfast my daughter may have a few scoops of almond butter and be happy for hours.

She also loves banana ice cream. Vegetables are difficult to get her to eat them, but if they are steamed. She will more likely eat the vegetable. Her favorite vegetable is Artichokes.

I also buy the bulk cereals from the Health food store. I soak the cereal overnight and I add sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and dried fruit. In the morning everything is soaked and soft and there are some soaked seeds in the dish.

I add nuts to fruit smoothies and top raw veggies with a little cold pressed olive oil and (yellow) yeast flakes.

They also have a help yourself shelf in the fridge full of prewashed grapes, melon pieces, cherry tomatoes, and carrot sticks.

my 18 mos old enjoys:
"ice cream" with frozen bananas, spinach (or any other veggies I can't get her to eat) and any other frozen fruit. I run it all through my champion juicer with the blank in. She LOVES this. She runs over to the cupboard where we keep the juicer and says G-NA G-NA... this means ice cream in toddler talk.
avocado mashed up with cocoa powder. This is pudding
guacamole
really thin carrot slices. These are "coweeees!"
bananas, plums, sliced apples soaked in fruit juice or just plain, nuts, almond butter.... any fruit!
lara bars
our ice cream is her all time fav. though. we have this every day. it is the only way I can get anything green down her!
Good luck... get creative!!!

Yep..I forgot those as well. My 14 month old loves the organic thompsons grapes from trader joes. They look like the little green champagne grapes. She grabs them and eats them so fast. I will have to see if she will eat the Lara Bars... thanks for all of the tips.

My little one also loves chunks of plain avocado. She likes to dunk them in her oatmeal in the morning.

I just got a dehydrator and the first thing I made was banana chips. My 18mos old daughter LOVES them! Has anyone tried carrots? Would that be really weird?
