Oh my Gosh!!

Never in a trillion years would I have thought my body would feel this way before during and after a run. I have been 100% raw only 18 days now. The first 2 weeks, I was up and down. My energy was zapped alot of the time. Well, day 16 came and I jumped out of the bed and went to run for 45 minutes. (I haven't run since the june 4th 2006 marathon).

Anyway, I just new I would feel tired and my lungs would be on fire, BUT NOOOO..I felt amazing. I felt like running for hours. I got into the Zone very quickly. My legs felt great. It was like I hadn't even taken a 2 1/2 month break from running. I can't believe this. I have trained for 4 marathons pre-raw the way all of the experts have recomended and I have never been able to run like this. This morning I had planned on running for 30 minutes. I went for an hour and could have continued running! It felt totally natural and It was the best run ever. I wasn't even sore the day after my run. I am normally crying and limping and carrying on if I even take a week off from running, but after 2 1/2 months of sitting on my butt, I am soo happy that I have FINALLY found a diet that is conducive for running! I have been yearning to have that feeling early in the morning since I first started training in 2003 for my first marathon. I use to hate to get up early. I would have to psyche myself into just getting up and putting on my shoes. The first mile was always murder for me; Struggling to wake up, breathe and warm up.
This morning I woke up at 6:30am. Popped out of bed, drank some water and couldn't wait to get out of the door.

I cannot believe that professional runners don't all eat this way. World records would probably be shattered everywhere if they did! :)

THAT'S SO GREAT!

Honestly, I've never been a runner, but since I've started raw... it's all I can think about. I just want to RUN RUN RUN.

I'm so happy for you!

Hence Tim VanOrden's efforts... http://www.runningraw.com

But yeah, I totally hear you. Since being raw I feel great, my recovery time is non-existant, I bounce back from even the longest runs (training for the Chicago Marathon at the moment), and I've been setting PR after PR in everything from the 5K to the Half Marathon this summer. (Been raw since July 2005, running since September 2005... after taking several years off due to morbid obesity <244 lbs>)

You two are great motivations, I have taken up running again and am also aiming for a marathon.

I am happy to hear that with raw great results are possible, that is so encouraging.

I am so happy for you. I just started raw because I have been feeling so tired all the time no energy not to mention I am on thyroid meds and they keep upping my dossage. My energey level and performance is suffering and I am not an awsome runner but I have good stamina, and it is taking a hit. I am so glad you are feeling better and your running is great too. So nice to read that.

Awesome. What do you think of their new course?

I am a part of the Loma Linda Lopers -- we are the people wearing the bright pink hats (well fine is very faded) :D The new training clinic started mid July. We really gear our program for beginners and build slowly. :)

Glad that raw is making you run so much better. What do you plan on using during you long runs instead of gels? I'm glad to hear about you doing so well with this. I'm not 100% but when I tell my running buddies how much fruit I eat they can't beleive it and tell me I'm eating too much sugar. Who can argue with what makes you feel best when you run though?

hey I remember all of those pink caps. Good to finally meet one of you.
I am psyched about the new course. I didn't like the old course too much!!

Yeah ... and I know how you feel. I don't think i will be telling most of my running buddies yet about my diet until I get to a point that I am ready to argue. I don't need the drama right now! I just know that my buddy did this 2 years ago and lost 30 pounds and knocked off 30 minutes from his PR. So I know it works.

As far as my longer runs... I am planning on using dates and lara bars!!

It's all going to be new for me! What are you planning on eating for your long runs??

WOW
This thread should be pinned Inspiration Central.

My physical activity participation in the past 10 years has been

CAR POOL MOM extraordinair
Mommy cheering on the sidelines
Motivational Coach Mother and Wife
Snack, Water and First Aid Kit MAMA

With my oldest of 5 now gone off to college I have this extreme urge to redefine ME and recapture some youth.
CLICK HERE for her BIO She's A RUNNER too (http://uclabruins.cstv.com/sports/w-xc/mtt/curry_krishna00.html)

Her events are really the 800 and the 400 but she's training with the XC team just incase someone gets injured.

My greatest accomplishment running was a force 5 miles daily for 8 weeks in Boot Camp- US Navy 17 years ago.

RAW is the only thing that has curbed the joint pain I've had for the past 4-5 years due to a car wreck, so now I'm motivated to get moving.

Weekly Yoga or Pilates are my only exercise now :(

OK SO THE SHORT VERSION:

I want in
I wanna run
I need the the runners High
and yeh DogMD I want Ameries Body and HAir Too!! ;)
KMik I wanna PR with You
Capt Swab I'm in TN but I want a Pink hat too

TINY STRAWBERRY and MADMEL doesn't it just seem that running feels like the next logical thing to due when RAW???

I'm gonna stop fighting the urge, get rid of the fear of PAIN and JUST DO IT...in my New balance Sneakers of course :D

Alright DogMD thanks for letting me Hijack your thread.

I went thru your photo album, you look awesome!!! And the puffs on your baby are too cute. I'm doing a hair growth thing too. :)

GO KRISHNA!!!
What an extraordinary young lady :D

And yeah... come on along! I PR'd at a 5K yesterday... my goal was to break in to the 8's... and I DID IT!!! I finished in 27:29, an 8:52 m/m pace... yipee! Then today I ran 18 miles for my marathon training... albeit 18 slow miles :) no need to PR for a training run ;)

But yeah, YOU can do this too!!! Start running... you can join the RunRaw Team and run the Chicago Marathon with us next year!!!! http://www.runraw.org

Thanks Kmik

I sent an email to join for 07.

Will send in a donation for this year crew in the weeks to come.

I hope to have the Music City (TN) 1/2 Marathon done in Spring 07 which would have my right on pace training wise for a Fall 07 Whole Marathon.

I'm ecstatic.

THANKS

Loved the other link on the site to RAW Wide Web or something like that. So resourceful. Loved that Super Hero lady Knowler. Will get back to that site later today.

ALright DOgMD thanks for letting me Hijack your thread.

Okay Lifeagift...You have your life back now!! YAAAH!! The more runners in the world (especially raw runners... the better!!!) Thanks for the compliments. Now if I can just post a picture of amerie on the back of my ipod while i am running. That would be some great motivation. Raw had helped my knee pain tremendously as well!! I am so excited for you!!

Keep up the hair thing as well.. I completely understand!! Only problem with mine is that I have to wash it so frequently after my runs.

I am going to be taking on all of your titles soon with my little one ( carpool mom)...(snack mom) etc etc... so now it is hit or miss trying to get my training runs in!

Anywhooo.. I will be thinking of all of you raw runners in the am..

Happy running!!
