I've decided to sign up for some classes at my gym with the reformer. Anyone a huge fan and can wax poetic about it a wee bit so I won't cry about how much money it costs?
Please??? :D

I did pilates at home for a while. They really kick your ass. It'll be money well spent!

Pilates is amazing! Completely cured my sciatica in two months. I do two mat classes a week with my wife, and one private reformer class on my own. I find it's great for posture, core strength and overall flexibility.
Also, at my age (47), I use the principles I've learned in Pilates to help me protect myself in my gym workouts. It's truly frightening to see the way some people sling, hurl and yank the weights around.
As to the cost, here in L.A., several Pilates studios offer mat classes for $12-$15 per class, and if you buy a series of 10 or more, the cost drops to around $10 per. Two of those a week is just $80/month. I look at it as an investment in senior health. ;)

I went for physical therapy once to a place that was also a pilates studio. It was awesome. The gym looked nothing like I had ever seen before, reformers, cadilacs, and alot of other equipment I've never seen before.
It definitely stregthens your core. But by me it was very expensive $65 a 1 hour session. Once the insurance stopped paying I could not justify it any longer.
