Whoa, this is my second day raw - and....

Well, i feel like i'm eating alot!

Like sometimes i can't tell if i'm hungry, or if i'm just craving something. Like i'm not craving many greens at all. Mainly just bananas, peaches, apples, prunes, raisins, nuts, etc.

Yeah! i'm not sure if i should go on a fast or something.

For example, where i live, the time right now is 4:45 p.m.

i'll just give an example of what i've eaten today so far:

Got up at 7:00 a.m.
i ate at 9:00ish;
1 cup wild blue-berries, 2 small peaches, 1 apple, 3 prunes. [Fruit salad]
12ish i ate a cob of raw corn. [It was so good! When eating it i realized how much flavor is stolen from it once cooked! No wonder people slop on butter, salt and pepper.]
3:30 - 4:3o somethingish: 1 cup or more of peanuts, 3 bananas, 3 plums , 1 orange, & a large stalk of broccolie.

i'm pretty sure i ate some other stuff that i don't even remember.

Holy crow! What's up with this?! i mean, sometimes i just feel hungry and want to be full or something. And at other times it almost seems..inbetween or something? i'm not sure if i want to eat just for pleasure/stimulation or something?

It makes me feel bad in a way. It's hard to discribe. i don't want to feel guilty about eating again.

Any ideas? i mean, for alot of you, what was it like when you first started? Can you relate?

Many thanks,
-Mud

Listen to YOUR body. If you start having problems with your tummy, start seperating your foods & combine differently. (never fruit with nuts, etc)

You actually didnt eat a whole lot. Esp being new. New ppl get ravenous because their bodies have been doing without their needed nutrients for so long.

PLEASE dont feel bad when your body gets used to this food you are giving it. When it kicks in, it will want MORE. It's temporary & I dont want you to get afraid & get off track.

You cant do wrong with sunfoods. Just eat hearty & be merry. Here's to the rest of your life!! Now, you can eat & actually start enjoying it!!

Mud! :D You're doing great. Eat what your body wants. In the beginning I was going shopping every day or every other day because I was eating so much.

Now I have days where I'll eat quite a bit, and days where a couple of bananas and some melon will get me through.

I OFTEN have all-fruit days. Cantaloupe in the morning, grapes during the day, a banana-mango smoothie, fresh orange juice, whatever floats my boat. Then I'll have days where all I eat is an enormous salad.

Eat as much as you want!! I still eat a ton of food and I've been doing this since January. If you get a craving for cooked food - eat raw food! You can do it!

This is awesome! i guess i'm just getting the idea that the body has wisdom, and it will tell you when to stop something.

Thanks a lot everyone!

i think i'm going to do a three day water fast. i'm headed off to a youth camp this Wednsday, and the camp is three days long - so it'll be a good opportunity to fast then. i went to the same camp last year, and as far as i remember the food was so junky, it probably wouldn't have even qualified for a SAD diet. Gross, eh? So with my new commitment it'll be more easy to give up the food. i hope. No, it WILL be easy. Positive mind-set.. Think positive.

Save me!! Everyone in my family is having Ice-Cream for dessert!! Ice Cream is like..........for me...... it's like....... Aww, man!!

No... Just, no.

This is soo weird not eating Ice-Cream... Like. Too weird.

Dude, my dad is like, "Aren't you going to have Ice-Cream....? I can see your bones! You need more fat on ya!"

i'm far from bony.. -.- i'm 5'3" and weigh 120.. It makes me so mad. My dad isn't overweight either.. it's just like.. GUAGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the vent. Just didn't want to start an intire different thread on...

Ice.. Cream.

The good thing is, i'm so stuffed anyway from dinner that i'm not even craving It. It's more like, just for the taste of It.

This was a thing i read that kinda` answered my questions about 'hunger' when going raw: [ A change of subject from IT.. ]

"I discovered things like macadamia/strawberry 'yogurt' that I dipped apple slices in. I made spicy sunflower seed dip for celery and carrot sticks. I made thick, delicious salad dressings with seeds and nuts. I always had dates, raisins and nuts with me, and snacked almost continually. In the beginning, no matter how much food I ate, I still felt 'hungry'. Although the fattier, denser, more concentrated foods and complex recipes helped a bit, nothing really took away that gnawing feeling of hunger and I felt an almost constant desire to eat. I was later to learn that these feelings weren't hunger at all, but the symptoms of cleansing that my diet change had initiated. When your stomach aches, I found out, it's like a sprained ankle that only needs rest. Real hunger is quite a different sensation, not an unpleasant one, similar to mild thirst. When one first adopts a raw food diet, however, the feelings of weakness, irritation, lightheadedness and growly stomach are very powerful. Intuitively, I knew if I tried to ignore these feelings, or not eat in response to them, it would be difficult for me to stay raw."

Yeah, but some parts from this story really explained a lot for me. Anyway - Thanks for all the information you guys have been giving me. i'm learning!

Me too! I have to have ice cream of some sort and here is a good one:
(it is more of a raw sorbet really)

2 cups raw nut milk
tiny pinch of sea salt
1 vanilla bean (seeds only)
1/4 cup to 1/2 cup agave syrup or other raw sweetner
mix well and put this in an ice cream maker

or you can add 1/4 cup of organic cocoa powder (I don't think it is raw but I do it anyway) :p
