View Full Version : Neighbors didn't recognize ME!!!

well, I MUST say, I was surprised.
One of my rentals, is vacant, so I went over there to show it to a new family, and I went to the neighbors to say "Hi," as we are friends, and they didn't recognize me.
I've known them for about 10 years, and the last time they saw me was in December.
The husband, asked if he could help me, and the wife, just looked at me, when I spoke they both, dropped their mouths to the floor, and said, "We didn't recognize you. You are so thin."
Well, I'm still over 200 pounds, so I don't think I'm actually THIN, but I sure an thinner that I was in December, or any other time they've seen me.
I haven't been this weight, since 1997 or so, maybe a little earlier than that.
I couldn't believe they didn't recognize me, but alot of people have been saying that, and marveling at my thinner body, so it must be true.
I do know that all of my clothes, even my "thin" clothes don't fit, I had saved one pair of jeans to try on, "just in case" I could ever get into them, they are sooo very baggy on me, they hang off me. LOL
and I have a couple of shirts, I always loved the colors of, they are way too big. haven't worn them since the early 90's LOL
Anyway, I don't want to buy any new clothes, because I will be losing so much more weight, and I've never been a big clothes shopper anyway.
I just don't care that much about what I wear, I just want it to be comfortable, and not look too horrible. LOL
But, maybe I might have to buy something to wear, no pants fit, all too big, no dresses, all look like gunny sacks, humm, I have to wear something.
(not at home) but when I go out to the store, I do have to wear clothes.
So, I'll have to meditate on this for a while. LOL

That is soooo awesome. I too feel the pain of clothes shopping. I hate to shop. I'm not buying any until I get closer to my goal weight. Another 10 or 15 pounds I will have some clothes in my closet that I should be able to wear. I was sizes 7 to 9 for years and still have those clothes. Can't wait to get back into those, but right now I have hardly anything to wear but way too big clothes that just hang on me, oh well. I would rather have that problem then be heavier.

THAT'S AMAZING!!!!!!!!! You RAWK!!
I hate shopping for clothes as well! I guess it's from all of the times I go into stores and try on something, then it usually doesn't fit or they don't have my size! So yeah, my mom has been buying me clothes but I want to wait cause it seems like I'm melting! hehe :D

Very cool, RP! Isn't that just a wonderful feeling? It's not just physical appearance either, but spiritual as well. It's like you finally feel like you look like you've always meant to, if that makes any sense. The person appearing to the world is what feels right after being imbalanced for too long. I've been saying all along my weight gain that this isn't what I really look like. Raw brings it out from the inside, and it's so amazing! Congratulations!
I'm noticing that weight loss on raw is different than weight loss on SAD. Because the body is cleaner from the inside, I think, the outward appearance is less than the number on the scale. It'll all catch up and balance out.
I hate shopping too. Luckily I have plenty of transition clothes in different sizes for a while. I'm laughing with Lay-Lay saying that she'd rather have the baggy clothes problem than the opposite. No kidding! :D

Isn't that the most grand compliment of all? When someone you know fairly well doesn't even recognize you. Way to go RP!

You should get new clothes because it will make you feel better. Just go to the thrift store and buy a few pairs of pants or a long skirts. You could take your old clothes and rip them into little pieces for rags or burn them :D
No really I would donate them, but I thought it might feel really good.

Yahoo! That's so great! I hate to pay for clothes myself so I have a great time at our local thrift stores. St. Vinnies, Goodwill (prices have gone up!), but it is a good way to get soft jeans. I get the stretch 'leggings' type, add waist elastic and they'll fit as I shrink down. My current favs are just loose regular fit...even tho they used to be stretched on me! :p
Almost 2 months RAW :D

I am a clothes horse so I would say threat yourself to something new, a belt to cinch in the too big dress or something new for when you go out. At home I guess it does not really matter though :p

Once again your inspiring threads just keep coming!!
Your story reminded me of what happened to me this weekend too.
A friend came by whom I had not seen in 2-3 weeks and when I opened the door she just stared at me speechless and unmoving - let me tell you this girl never stops talking - so it went on for so long I asked her what was wrong; you know is there a green thing hanging out of my nose or something!
She said she wasnt sure! She said I looked very different but did not want to say "did you lose weight?" so I just said "yes I lost a stone and a half since I had last seen her!!!
It's odd but I look and feel like I have lost a lot more than 20lbs. I really feel that 20 raw pounds shows very differently.
Well done girl! :p

thanks my dear raw family,
I guess I am just gonna' have to get SOMEONE to take some photos of me.
Oh, and I did get my house rented, to a very nice woman.
you know, I always get all stessed out, when one of my rentals is vacant, I've had them for 30 years, you'd think, I'd just relax about it, they are always rented. LOL
But, this, plus my bf dissapearing and all, was just a bit much!
And ALL at the same time, yikes, actually it was easier, because I had so MUCH to stress about, I couldn't worry about just one thing, so I didn't worry about anything, LOL
Oh, and I met a man today.

I agree with LT, go to a thrift shop and pick up some recycled clothes that you can re-recycle and then recycle some more until you are at your goal weight.
Yes, pictures, please. Set your camera on something and push the self-timer. We all want to see our disappearing RP before she vanishes completely!!

I don't think there is a timer on my camera, if there were, I'd be using it, I have a finepix 2650 digital camera, if anyone knows how to use a timer on this, or even find one, I'd love to know about it.
Maybe I will get my workers to take a pic of me tomorrow.

I have a Finepix A350 and it has a timer, but I never learned how to use it. I got some friends to take pictures of me. Except the tongue.

RP, you have NO idea how you inspire me. I am more raw now--- 99.999% than I have ever been, thanks to your inspiring journey. And'I'm 'this close' to 100%. I have weight that I ahve carried to protect myself spiritually, etc and am ready to release it---already have begun to do it. You show me it can be done. I love reading about your success!!

Do you have a sewing machine? You could adjust your clothing to fit by cutting out the seam and sewing it up again. Congrats, by the way. Almost seventy pounds lost? that's quite an accomplishment.
