I am about to make Alissa's Blueberry Pie but I soaked the almonds as I assumed I should and they made a lot more than the 2 cups I started with that the recipe calls for. So do I remeasure out two cups of the soaked or use the increased amount or should I not have soaked them? Thanks any/everyone for your help with this! (Making recipes right helps my husband to stay enthusiastic about this diet/way.)

Its all in the wording. If it says 2 cups soaked then measure out 2 cups after soaking, but if it says soak 2 cups then you measure out 2 cups soak and do not measure after soaking But I just looked up her Blue berry pie page 484 the crust calls for 2 cups almonds it says nothing about soaking. at least not in my book it says to soak the dates. I always thought nut were to be soaked to activate the enzymes. This is against all I have learned so far. I hope this helps you good luck

Well, I'm gonna go with assuming she mean't measuring after soaking as I just did so and with the dates it covered the pie plate perfectly and just a tad generously even tho I forgot to soak the dates! Thanks for the pointers!

In the DVD, the almonds were soaked I think.

On page 287 at the beginning of the recipe section, Alissa says to only soak the nuts in the recipes if directed to do so, otherwise the recipes may not come out as expected.

The blueberry pie just says "2 cups almonds" so they should be UNsoaked.

But I'm sure it will still come out okay, but I just wanted to let you know this for any future Alissa recipes you make. :)

She does say that nuts and seeds are healthier and easier to digest if soaked... but for some recipes they just turn out better if they're not soaked first...

I soaked them and we ate the pie this morning....for BREAKFAST!!! and it was good! Oh!! It is SO AWESOME to eat dessert for breakfast with honey poured on it no less and not feel like we've done a big baaaaad! And even though, when I cut the slices, I saw moisture in the bottom of the pan it wasn't like a SAD pie in that the crust doesn't get soggy! And while taking some time to wash all the blueberries it was so simple to make! The recipe was a little bland for me though refreshing but when I drizzeled on some raw honey it was perrrrrfect! Whew, look at me! I'm all explanation marks here today, giggle!

I've lost down from 142 to 127 since about June 1st without even trying and I haven't been perfectly raw either (I want to be though)! My Dh has gone from about 265 to 249!!! Annnnnd his blood sugar is much better! We need a Ta Da Thread to post our progress on. Is there one?
