I just went to Jaffe Bros (http://www.organicfruitsandnuts.com/default.asp) and it says that their dates are organic and unfumigated and are one of the few sources that are.

To me, organic would mean unfumigated. Does anyone know anything about this?

Veganman,

Both Jewel Date Co. and Oasis Date Co. told me the same thing about the difference between their conventional dates and their organic dates. They told me that their conventional dates are disinfected by fumigating with ethyl bromide and their organic dates are disinfected by freezing.

It's double organic. Or extra organic. :D

Unfortunately everyone thinks that organic foods are completely free of chemicals and such. I don't know the details(I am getting a book from library about his issue soon), but there are around 100 chemicals that are allowed to use on organic produce. And big stores like walmart tries to push USDA to lower organic standarts even more.
If you want really clean food - raise it yourself or buy directly from the gardener you can trust.
