I've been a LOOOONG time fan/addict of coffee & diet soda. What kind of suggestions/recipies does anyone have here to kind of "replace" the craving for coffee (especially!!) and diet soda.
Is there a good nut or fruit (or otherwise) beverage that someone here has tired that has helped them get through the coffee/diet soda addiction?
Any suggestions will be MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!

Hey :)
I was a very dedicated coffe drinker for most of my life and I have also had my share of Diet soda as well.
After reading about the diet soda and anything with Aspartime in it I will never again poison my body with it. I suggest you read more about it and that alone might solve any thoughts of going back.

Coffee was another story. I actually came off coffee before going raw and I transistioned with Yerba Mate Tea. I drank a lot of it and it was a totally better drink than coffee energy wise.
But since Raw, I have come totally off anything boiled or brewed.
Fresh Orange Juice is my new Passion :D
Lemon Lime water
Most any smoothie will tickle my fancy
Carrot Juice is a TOTAL Must for me :) YUMMY
My own Tomato juice rocks.
You will find that when you fill your body's need for the nutrients it lacks then your cravings will lessen and you will become more balanced and have less cravings for the things you shouldn't have because it is happy with what you give it!
You shouldn't think to yourself, Aw man I can't have that anymore :(
NO NO NO NO
It is now.. MAN look what I get to have!! It tastes AWESOME and I can have as much as I want! Rock on
Raw is not about doing without, Like Raw Priestess says, " I GET to eat raw"!!

I have to second EVERYTHING Graciebeliever said, as I had the exact same experience. Learning about what these drinks were doing to my body was all the motivation I needed to quit. The subsequent recovery of amazing, clean, consistent energy (plus sleeping deeper, falling asleep faster, and waking up easier) have been plenty to keep me off.
I chose to quit coffee before I chose to quit caffeine, because I was trying to get my body into a more alkaline state. I transitioned first with green tea and then with yerba mate.
I gave up soda with no transition at all because one day I woke up and realized that drinking liquid chemicals makes no sense. When I want something fizzy I grab a bottled kombucha from Wonderdrink or GT's:

It's not about giving up something wonderful - it's about GETTING something wonderful (improved health) by letting go of things that are bad for you.
Good luck with the shift - glad you made the decision!

hi there,
for me, i miss the soda, so i just buy natural carbonated water, and add to natural juice, orange juice, lemonade, apple, etc. it does the job :)
I drink what blue213 drinks! I really love grape juice mixed with a small amount of agave before adding the carbonated water.

I'm in your boat.... caffeine products have been the hardest thing for me to ween off of. BUT... for contrast, back in April, I'd get a Starbucks latte in the morning and have 2-3 cups of Keurig coffee at work all filled with (organic) skim milk.
Now, I have coffee maybe once a week, if I'm really craving it, with some almond milk and agave nectar and 3-4 Syzmos a week, on days when I feel like I need a push to get to the gym. I also love Yerba Mate "lattes" with almond or cashew milk and agave.
For those of you transitioning, Syzmos are completely kickass. They are certified organic and they use *gasp* agave nectar! It's not raw, but, they taste phenomenal and have pretty good ingredients. They have made a huge difference in my ability to transition raw and keep me happy.
