Why does it always say to soak the dired fruits before use? Is it just to make them more pliable or is there something more to it?
Also:Is the brand Sunmaid (raisins, currants, prunes, dates) considered raw? If not, how would I know or find out if a dried fruit is really raw (and not heated hundreds of degrees to dry it out or uses tons of chemicals for preservation)
Has anyone every inquired into the Sunmaid brand about how it makes it's dried fruits?
I ask only because Sunmaid is pretty much the ONLY brand of dried fruits I can find around here...
There are "individual" packages of dried fruits, (put out by the store from small vendors) but I'm not so sure I trust them too much considering a co-worker of mine found maggots crawling around in a package of individually packaged dried fruits and nuts  !!
