It's the only food I have that if I have it in my cabinet, I can't sleep until it's ALL gone! Help! Why? I wouldn't mind but the bag is, like, 3,000 calories... Why can't I stop eating them?

lol

They are addicting, aren't they!!!! :D

What I've started doing with the foods that I can't stop eating is to buy them from the bulk foods area and then I buy what I consider to be 1 serving. Usually I eat it all before I get home  The store is 25 miles from my home so it's not easy to just drop in and get more.

Same here - that's why I don't keep them around. They're like candy!

I've read on here that raw cashews aren't really raw so that may be a factor to you addiction of them.

I have the same with cashews, I just love them them! I mix them together with small Asian figs and it's a real treat!

I try to limit them as I am trying to limit my intake of fats and have no more than half a cup for the day - I measure it out in the morning and this works really well.

I would suggest you allow yourself a certain amount each day and try not to exceed it.

I believe that there is a huge difference between raw/not so raw cashews and cooked/processed SAD food in terms of addiction. Why am I not addicted to my not so raw honey then? Or rather items where I doubt that they are as raw as should be?

I believe, cashews have just a really great taste and you can munch on them for hours. They are just tooo good!

Personally, I don't eat cashews anymore because it is highly likely that most cashews (even the ones labeled raw) are not really raw. They are steamed to release them from the shell as many of you know and we don't quite know if that cooks them or not. I chose not to take the change. There are plenty of other nuts around for me to enjoy. I eat macadamias instead of cashews. Generally if a food is really adictive to you, it probably isn't completely raw or it isn't completely healthy. I wouldn't worry about calories though. Your body will tell you what it needs.

I believe their is a bitter oil laying between the cashew nut and the shell. It depends on the method used to remove this bitter oil whether it's raw or not. Commonly it is flamed to remove this oil, if only breifly before it roasts, and loses it's raw state, so you need to buy raw cashews that state no flaming was used to remove the oil.

I had the same problem and then it went away. i had it with all nuts, not just cashews. I suggest following Alissa's advice to eat whatever you want as long as it's raw and trust the body's ability to heal and evolve.
Used to be that cashews/nuts would be gone in NO time, but now the bag can sit there full forever and then I'll just use some in a recipe.
Trust the process! We are healing on such deep levels.
