View Full Version : Purple coconut???
Just opened a coconut and it's purple inside. Is it still any good? All the others have always been white.

Is it a violet color? I've had one of those before, I believe that it is just very young, the meat will be super tender. As long as it tastes ok I would eat it!

I have eaten them when they were a very light lavendar color inside with no negative outcomes. It didn't taste any different, but I do believe it was softer.

Okay, I had some coconuts that were purple inside, I had them in the fridge for like 10 days. :o They did not look good to me, there were moldy spots on the bottom, and they just did not seem fresh. So I chucked them. :( I figured this was the "pink" everyone talks about and they were no longer good. They had a purple film on the inside, some just the bottom, and some everywhere, and the water was pink. I really don't think that means they're younger, coconuts have white meat that just firms up and gets thicker as they age, don't they??
