View Full Version : Number of Enzymes

The longer I stay raw, the younger I look, which I assume has something to do with enzymes. Now the way I understand it is that the body has a set number of enzymes which is depleted everytime we eat cooked food. So my question is does raw food:

Give us back more enzymes then we actually need for digestion (replenishing our diminished supply)
Give us just enough to digest the food (so we don't use any more of our supply)
Give us some enzymes (so we don't use as much of our supply but still use some)?

Also are some foods better then others? Which ones are high and low in the enzyme department?

I hope I am making sense!

Hi Gwendolyn -

great questions! Based on research I have been doing, I believe either that the raw food enzymes give us enough to digest that particular food or that they give us some so we don't deplete our own as much. Different authors say different things.

Papaya is real high in digestive enzymes.. I have been using papaya to help with indigestion and to get things moving! Pineapple is another that I know of for sure :o)
