View Full Version : Dairy? Never again..

I happened along on this 1.17 hour talk by John McDougall MD.
I learned more about dairy than I have on anything else and I can tell you right now, that I am fighting off a disgusting feeling and near depression of my upbringing, past usage, giving it to my children and the shame of being so brainwashed all these years, not to mention the rage at what the dairy industry is doing now to our children and future generations all for the sake of Money. 16 Billion a year in milk sales.
The thing that got me more than anything is, that milk gets much of its white coloring NOT from the calcium but from White blood cells (also known as Puss, yes the kind that comes from an infection in the body) Ok I almost fainted. And the level of which the federal government authorizes them to have in it. It is so disgusting I can't hardly wrap my mind around it.
He gives you so much information and ways for you to read and see for yourself with printed documentation on studies that have been done about dairy products and the HORRIBLE things people suffer with because of their usage of ALL dairy.
I recomend a watch or listen of this (he does have a slide thing he does with it but you can just listen too) and I hope that it will be as enlightening to you as it has been to me.
*I am still shuddering*

I just posted "YAY I'm SO happy" about milk. I'll have to show this to my dad now as well...thanks!
I'm trying to watch it now, but about ever 2 seconds it stops and then starts again. It keeps skipping. Was it doing that for you or should I wait and restart it?
I just watched Go Further with Woody Harrelson. In it he refers to milk as "blood and puss" as well. My daughter is a milk maniac! It's going to be a hard habit for the kids to break!

Do you have a link to that one?

Thank you, I am going to watch this when I get off work. I will have to let my hubby watch it too. He used to drink it everyday until we linked it with his allergies, but it still will have some once in a blue moon. Although he likes nut milk. He saids its just not the same, you know and I'm like yeah I know.

Hi DreamRaw,
I sometimes have that same problem with the video playing, stopping then starting again. When that happens, I just let the video run for a while and do something else. Then I come back and drag the little bar at the bottom of the video screen back to the beginning and then it runs smooth until it gets to the point where I drag it back. I also learned if I don't catch it before the end of the video I have to do it all over again.

Oh yeah I recently found out all the horrible stuff about dairy when I went to a veggie/ vegan roadshow. Its such an eye opener!! Its because the cows are forced to produce so much milk that their udders grow painfully large and end up with mastitis which causes white blood cells to enter the milk. It sent shudders down my spine to know what I used to drink! Whenever I have cooked food now I make sure it is totally vegan!! I agree, its totally shocking and disgraceful the information that these companies cover up just to profit. Sickening.

It is not at all that I want to defend dairy.
But this story about milk and puss...
Is this a story about the mass industrial production, or is this also
concerning biological "milk producers"?
If we want more people to join vegan lifestyle we have to be precise
and make distinctions :o

The story about milk en puss, I knew that.
I found that out a month ago. At a vegan
forum. Dutch. The day after I come to
the people I work and they wanted to give
me milk in my coffee. And from that start
the only thing I could see in my mind that
the milk was only puss en blood.Yak.
Since then I haven't drink milk. ;)

I always maintained that even the flesh of dead animals is better for a body than modern dairy products....
In the order of things, when a person is coming from a meat/dairy background and going to a vegan/raw vegan one....I always advise going off the dairy first and dealing with the flesh food after. I believe a 6 inch surloin is better for the body than a vanilla ice cream cone.
Of course, a bowl of fruit beats them both hands down :p
Peace.

I haven't had meat in quite awhile, red meat/pork in 15 years and chicken/turkey in one. However, a Starbucks latte and coffee in general was my greatest addiction. When I gave up refined sugar/flour, etc, it never occured to me that modern milk, in a sense, was the worst of the "white devils." Even the organic brands I purchased for home.
When I was transitioning raw back in early June, I still trundled over to Starbucks for my daily drink (albeit, horrible organic Parmalat milk.) Such was my inability to give it up.
It wasn't till I heard multiple people on Raw Vegan Radio podcasts at the gym that the concept of MILK = TUMORS nailed itself into my brain. If these wonderful, inspirational and wise people felt so strongly about the deleterious effects of milk... maybe it was high time I stopped kidding myself and did as well.
I haven't given up caffeine - I *love* my Syzmo drinks and coffee, but, now I use Almond Milk. As Sarma notes in Raw Food/Real World - it does a body good :)

Oh yeah, I learned all about the truth about dairy a couple years ago while I was researching veganism. Needless to say I went vegan that day.
I can't say that I was shocked and I never liked strait milk. It always looked and tasted disgusting to me. It was just dairy products that I enjoyed. But really, I had no problem quitting, dairy is so gross. I had always felt greasy and gross after having milk products.
Not to mention that the dairy industry is inhumane and abuses those poor animals. Good for you graciebeliever for learning about milk. Here is a great website you might find interesting and true:

There normally are white blood cells in milk, though not nearly as much. The purpose of the white blood cells is to support the baby's immature immune system. In cow's milk, the intended baby is a calf, not a human, so feeding even raw healthy cow's milk to baby humans is not a good idea.

Yes but when they force the production of high volume they cause the cows to have inflamation and mastitus (sp) sets in and causes a FAR higher percentage of the white blood cells to be released into the milk. The MD that did the conference said that much of the white color from milk does NOT come from the calcium it comes from the White Blood Cells. oh Major yuck
I told my 17 year old today about it and because he knows I am an honest searcher he believed me straight off and that pleases me.

I'm a bit skeptical here. Not that I'd ever defend dairy mind you, and the industry is horrible, but I'm a nursing mom who's raw, has had no meds in her body for years, and my milk is white as well.
Mastitis is a huge problem from many perspectives. If they have mastitis they are also getting antibiotics to deal with it. So you are giving your loved ones those meds as well. THey take the cows out of rotation if given the meds (they're supposed to anyone, many don't) for only one week-not long enough if you ask me!
In any case-human milk for human babies-cow's milk for baby cows. Period.

oh guys
these kind of hard hitting threads are disgusting but Brilliant! sometimes we need to be shocked for it to hit home! thats terrible about the "pus" element in milk.. my brother was allergic to milk from newborn so he never had dairy and even finds it disgusting! what a great way to start out on life to know from a newborn not to go near it!! I dont think I will ever have any problems staying away from dairy after this thread! THANKS GUYS!!!
That is so disgusting.
...
No wonder i couldn't down a glass of milk without adding chocolate flavoring to it.
No wonder i only had it in my cereal.
Never again..
No dairy products anymore in general, now that i'm raw.
Makes things so much easier to give up - i was totally a cheese freak!
Can't believe that i was so suckered into the whole, "Milk Is Good For You!"
Wonder how many pounds i'll drop from cutting out my cup of milk for the day. [ i would actually measure it and make sure i had at least a cup a day. ]
>Shrugs and sighs<

Welcome to the Dupped Club :(
I came through all of it, from the 1960 to almost 60 days ago.
I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will never again entertain the idea of dairy in any form.
But don't look back, it really doesn't do any good other than to firm the resolve to never again let that stuff enter your body.
Focus on the joy and purity the Raw brings and the knowledge the it drives out years of bad eating.
