I've been posting a lot recently, sorry! I'm just very bored lol.

Anyway I've had this very miner, but steady sinus infection for maybe over a year. I'm not sure how to get rid of it. Is it just a sloooow detox or a reaction from a food sensativity or waht? I'ts not really bothering me, I'm just wondering how/when it will end haha. In the past I used to get them suddenly and severe every spring and each time the doctors gave me a round of antibiotics. Obviously I'm not going to do that. Do I just ride it out or is there anything special I should do?

Wow, a year is a long time. I think it could be something other then detox. Sounds like an allergy to something.

Yeah, it's more than a detox thing now. Personally I would have gone to the doctor by now...

I had the same thing, progressively worse over a few years. It ended up being three things for me:

1. Dairy
2. Soy
3. Cigarette smoke

From your posts, I somehow doubt any of this applies to you and your lifestyle... so not sure how helpful this is for you.

I just don't do doctors for these type of things because I know they'll reccommend antibiotics or some other medicaiton which I won't take so I don't see the point ya know? I just have the colored mucus, sneezing, and some brief headaches once in a while (the almost a mirgrane type headaches).

mcashburn - yea, those don't apply to me. Do you think environmental chemicals could have an impact? My dad has a lot of chemicals (paints, pesticides, car stuff, cleaning fluid, fertalizers, ect.) in the garage that I know I react to if they're opened, but I never seemed to think a minor reaction like this would occure when they're put away (duh, right?).

If I hadn't already solved my sinus issues, I'd be ordering this book:

Arnold Ehret's Mucusless Diet Healing System
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0879040041/103-9345922-0698224?v=glance&n=283155

I also used a neti pot with success, although it's recommended to use kosher salt rather than celtic sea salt. There's a lot of info online about jala neti; here's a good starting point:

Are you sure it's a sinus infection? I say this because you mentioned problems with your teeth. I too had what I thought was a sinus infection but it turned out to be a tooth that was slowly dying. By the time the new dentist discovered this, it was pretty well gone. Root canal and crown for me! I'd complained many times to the dentsist in NY about it and she refused to give me an XRAy saying everything was fine. I believe the damage occurred when I was struck by a falling computer box. It was empty except for the foam stuff inside but it was a very sturdy box. There was instant pain and I felt like I'd broken off a piece of the tooth. I had a dentist appointment the following day so I figured she'd take care of it. But, no! And since I'd been told that my teeth were fine, I looked elsewhere for the source of the bother. I didn't have actual pain per se. More of an annoying throbbing somewhere along the sinus cavity.

If it is indeed a sinus infection, you need to drink tons of water to thin out the secretions and also use a nasal douche of some sort. Use a warm salt water solution and flush out the sinuses twice daily. There are a variety of devices sold for such a purpose. They are called things like Neti Pot and Sinucleanse.

Hi Dreamrawalwz,

iI'm sorry you're not feeling well.

I used to have recurring sinus problems, and some of the suggestions in this thread from last winter really helped me:

http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10488&page=1&highlight=sinus

Specifically, I:

-ate lots of kimchee (which is an antiviral or bacterial or something and is also good for the immune system)
-did neti pot nose rinses 2x daily
-drank garlic tea daily
-snorted cayenne powder (painful for a minute or two, but very effective)
-drank just smoothies or juice for several days
-drank tons of water, of course

There are actually some kinds of little bacteria or viral (not sure) that can inhabit your sinus cavity just like a yeast can inhabit you. Years of staying alive on steroids got rid of mine so I am glad to see the solutions offered above in case I get it back. I suffered with sinus for years and was convinced that I had some kind of infestation microbial but back then the docs poo poo 'd my theory. I was rewarded a few years ago when a front page newspaper article announced that legitimate experiments had proven my theory to be correct.

Three months ago my 18 month old grand daughter had a minor surgery. We were in the hospital for four days three nights. I never left her side. Her mom had to leave a couple of times because there was a four month old sister that needed fresh milk. ha, Anyway I had had a problem with nose drainage forever. I really don't know years I guess. Anyway there were serveal cases of staff infection on our floor. I was shocked at how unimportant they are about it now. I remember years back they would isolate anyone with it and visitors wore mask, gloves and scrubed when leaving. Not now. Upon our departure the doctor gave us a prescription of anti bacterial ointment (Bactroban) to put into our noses Am and pm to kill any staff germs. (yea really was my thoughts) they said colonies of staff live in our noses!!!!!!! the entire family had to do this. Okay we did, guess what my my nose thing cleared up an three months later still clear. So maybe..
